About this deal

Overall, autofocusing performance when composing using the rear screen in Live View is painfully slow and very sluggish, as was the case with the predecessor. This camera does not feature Canon’s brilliant Dual Pixel AF. So, sadly, the camera often hunts and questions its accuracy, which leads to both unusually slow and inaccurate focusing in Live View. Autofocus is even worse when shooting in low light, making it quite difficult to capture any images as the light levels drop. The EOS 1500D uses the same LP-E10 battery as the 1300D, which in this case, is rated at to deliver 600 shots per charge on average. When we tested it, we managed to get close to this number (about 480 shots) but our usage also involved using the flash, live view and video intermittently. Having Wi-Fi enabled will also have an effect on the overall battery life.

Scene Intelligent Auto, Flash Off, Creative Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports, Food, Night Portrait, Program AE, Shutter-priority AE, Aperture-priority AE, Manual exposureWe found the auto white balance to be a little inconsistent though, as many timeswe ended up with with varying degrees of colour tones in the same set of burst images. Some of the macros that we shot ended up withoversaturated colours at times. Close ups have good detail though and edges are well defined in most cases. However, the burst mode isn't too helpful with fast moving subjects. 3fps is simply not enough for the job, which is a shame. The Canon EOS 1500D comes as the successor to the older Canon EOS 1300D, and the camera does improve slightly on the specs front. Before we get started with the review, let us get the specs out of the way: The 9-point AF system used clusters all of the points in the center of the frame in a diamond configuration. While this is fine for general shooting, be prepared to re-frame and focus recompose if your subject is slightly off-center. An increase in AF points would have been nice to see here. Battery Life The EOS 1500D utilizes the same LP-E10 battery as the EOS 1300D, which is rated to yield 600 shots per charge on average in this case. We got close to this amount (around 480 photos) when we tested it, but we also regularly used the flash, live view, and video. Wi-Fi enabled devices to harm real battery life. It makes an excellent choice for someone looking for a stills camera, not a video camera. While it’s capable as a basic video camera, it’s better suited for photography alone. Though bear in mind, it’s burst shooting is not an especially strong point, and it’s not well suited for shooting action.

And considering the predecessor wasn’t particularly revolutionary, we expected a bit more considering the recency of this release. But, as it is, like the predecessor before it, Canon has played it safe once more and holds onto many of its tried elements. Thankfully, like the T6, it manages to remain capable and affordable enough for the market it aims. Is this a good camera for you? It uses a 9-point autofocusing system, where the central-most point is cross-type compatible, the same system as the predecessor. While a bit dated here as well, focusing using the optical viewfinder remains precise and works well for general shooting. Android Scene Intelligent Auto, Flash Off, Creative Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports, Food, Night Portrait to 30s (Total shutter speed range. Available range varies by shooting mode.), Bulb, X-sync at 1/200sLandscape photographs benefit from the EOS 1500D’s increased resolution, allowing further cropping if necessary. Although the level of detail is impressive, obtaining a crisp image might be difficult. Even with lots of lovely light and calm hands, we occasionally ended up with soft landscape images, even in the ‘P’ setting. There’s also some chromatic aberration, although it’s not very obvious. Objects in the center of the frame are relatively crisp, while those on the sides are a little fuzzy. As you’d expect from an entry-level DSLR, the focusing speed is adequate. The kit lens has a good depth of focus for close-up images, which is lovely. Battery

Canon presents a primary camera in its EOS 1500D. It is relatively simple for photo and video beginners who do not expect much more than the function. The 4K video function is an absolute highlight. Still, with 24 frames per second, the video recording can only be used to a limited extent. Due to the 18 megapixels, there are no restrictions on the photo quality. Physically, the EOS 1500D looks pretty much identical to its outgoing sibling. It’s roughly the same size and weight as its predecessor and as far as button placement goes, it’s exactly the same. One-handed shooting is easyand it still offers goodgrip thanks to ample rubber cladding on the right side of the camera. There’s no getting around the unmistakable plastic finish, which doesn’t feel too premium but that's to be expected for a basic DSLR.Single image, jump by 10 or 100 images, by shooting date, by folder, by movies, by stills, by rating

It features a native ISO range from ISO 100 to 6,400, further expandable to 12,800. The camera’s DIGIC 4+ processor, while a bit dated compared to the eighth iteration of the processor, remains capable. The increase in resolution hasn’t sacrificed noise control either compared to the predecessor, and performance remains quite good, though not class-leading. Users can expect usable images up to ISO 3,200, where noise is well controlled, and details are generally intact. Focusing Performance Auto (Ambience priority), Auto (White priority), Preset (Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Tungsten light, White fluorescent light, Flash), Custom Even going all the way up to ISO 1600, noise is handled well and details are preserved. When we jump to ISO 3200, however, there’s a noticeable drop in detail in the sharpened portion of the pencils, which appear smoothened out. This details drop a bit further as you go to the highest ISO level. Chromanoise isvisible slightly here as the colours look a bit muddy. Oh, and speaking of smart, the Canon EOS 1500D also comes with WiFi+NFC capabilities, allowing you to connect your smartphone to your device. Pair that with the Camera Connect app on your smartphone, and you will be able to use your mobile device to easily capture images on your DSLR. You can then use your smartphone to even view the images stored on the EOS 1500D, and then seamlessly transfer them to your mobile. All in all, the Canon EOS 1500D is literally the same as the EOS 1300D, and like I said, I actually happen to like that. Canon has made a name for itself being one of the best cameras that an amateur can use, thanks to the great ease of use it offers, and the 1300D was a great example of that. As such, Canon has played it safe, throwing the same design on the 1500D, while making it a tad bit lighter, which makes it just perfect for single-handed usage.
