About this deal

The likelihood is that you have only ever cooked in pots and pans over a burner. The Coleman Camp Oven opens up the possibility to cook baked goods.

In my opinion, the Coleman oven is better suited for more experienced bakers. If you’re confident about your temperatures and cooking times, then you might just be able to use this without messing up anything. But if you need to sneak a peek every now and then, the fact that there’s nothing see-through about this oven will be a major issue. The Coleman oven has a max temperature of 600ºF, which is certainly impressive. That is 200ºF more than the Camp Chef oven, so if you need something capable of reaching extremely high temperatures, the Coleman oven might be a better fit for you. It has a heat indicator on the front, so you can easily tell exactly how hot it is inside the oven.Take out the dough, knead it six times by folding it outside in. Put it in a baking form and let it rise again until it doubles in size once more. Ovens that have their own integrated burner. This can be one or more propane burners, or some burner operating on solid fuel like wood and pellets. Whole-wheat flour is practically non-existent in Peru (and most of South America). Locals use white flour. Later on, I found (expensive) whole-wheat flour Lima’s organic stores/markets. If we just look at the numbers, it’s not even a contest. The Coleman oven weighs a mere 7 lbs and it folds flat for easy storage and carrying. The Camp Chef oven, on the other hand, is bigger, bulkier, and weighs 32lbs total. So, what’s the catch? Here is again something ingenious from the Winnerwell brand. This stove attaches to the pipe so the heat from a wood-burning stove below goes around the inner box and heats it. This model here is for a 2.5 inches (6.3 cm) pipe but as far as I know, they build them in several sizes.

With the Camp Chef oven, you get a more reasonable max temperature of 400ºF. That’s lower than you get in most household ovens, but still high enough that you’ll be able to cook anything you want. And since 400ºF is not too high, you can spend less time monitoring the temperatures of the oven and more time enjoying your camping trip. And it’s not meant to be used with outdoorgrills or open fire, so keep that in mind. It might weigh 25lbs less than the Camp Chef oven, but that doesn’t account for the weight of the other stove or burner you would also have to bring on the camping trip.My experience is that the Aluminum dutch oven works much better for baking then the cast iron, seems to distribute the heat around better without burning bread bottoms. Just did some scones with an experiment of not taking the top off and just turned heat off last 10 mins. browned on top just fine. Just a little steam exited when lid lifted, may have to do with moistness of dough? Didn’t seem to get the steaming effect at all? I lay an oven thermometer on top of oven and can see it through hole of parka, gets to 425 degrees in 15 mins. on medium flame. The body is a 304 stainless steel and the inner chamber is completely sealed. As you realize, it has a glass viewing window and an integrated thermometer that will help you dial in the oven for baking. The inner baking chamber measures 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 cm) and it has two internal shelves. The oven weighs 11 lb (5 kg). How hot do these ovens get? Well, both of them get hot enough to cook anything your heart desires, let’s get that out of the way. http://www.keepandshare.com/userpics/1/8/0/p/ilot/2014-09/sm/imag0165-31986712.jpg?ts=1410204334 Reply The Coleman oven is a better fit for people who have lots of cooking experience and need an oven that gets really hot. With a max temperature of 600ºF, this gets hotter than some household ovens! But the only way to control the temperature is to open the even and let the hot air out, so it will need your attention while there’s something inside.
