About this deal

Even though this is book 28, and I have read most of the preceding books, this series shows no sign of flagging. Whether this is due to the storylines and individual plots for each book or the fact that I have invested so much time in the main characters and their respective families that I am so excited about reconnecting with every book that I would pretty much follow whatever they do... I have seen Sampson mature in his relationships, I have followed Alex's love-life and watch his kids grow up. They are almost like family to me after all these years. Maybe that makes me biased. TBH I don't really care. I just know that when I start a new book in this series I am unlikely to be let down. The case takes a chilling turn as Cross discovers that two killers, operating in different parts of the country, are working together in a sinister collaboration. These twisted individuals are engaged in a disturbing competition to commit increasingly heinous crimes. While there was a lot going on in this book, it never lost its pace and not did it confuse the reader. Another fantastic Alex Cross book!! I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for an advance copy of Deadly Cross, the twenty eighth novel to feature psychologist Dr Alex Cross. Meanwhile Alex and best friend John Sampson are still working on the case of murders and rapes of young girls over the previous years - their bodies dumped into the Potomac. More girls go missing - what could be the connection between the Charter School, headed by Randall Christopher, and the missing girls?

James Patterson won the Edgar Award, which recognises excellence in mystery writing, for his novel “Along Came a Spider,” the first book in the Alex Cross series. The weapon that took down the plane is a remote-controlled Vietnam-War-era machine gun. The list of those who possess the training and expertise to operate the stolen, .50-caliber weapon is short. And time runs even shorter. As a reader you are drip fed information but you know that there’s always vital clues that Cross and his team know that you don’t. I found myself desperately wanting to know what was in the file or what someone had told them. How dare they know more than me!!! Everything is pursued very logically, there’s never a sense of “why would they do that” or something obvious being missed. You’re fed just enough information throughout to have you guessing what’s going to happen or who did it without ever being given enough that you can foretell the future of the story. When his former partner Sampson shows up needing his help, Cross jumps at the chance, even if it may end up costing him what’s left of his career. When a string of young, blonde women go missing, the investigation leads Cross and Sampson to the most depraved, darkest corners of the internet, where murder is just another form of entertainment. Meanwhile, Alex, John Sampson and Ned Mahoney are investigating a double homicide. Kay Willingham was a Georgetown socialite, philanthropist, and ex-wife of the sitting vice-president led a public life. Murdered alongside her is Randall Christopher, a respected educator with political ambitions. It’s not just adults that can enjoy James Patterson’s Alex Cross series. The Ali Cross books series are aimed at children aged 9-12 and focuses on Alex’s son, Ali, who is keen to follow in his father’s footsteps as a detective. lex Cross is on the wrong side of the law. Charged with gunning down followers of his nemesis Gary Soneji in cold blood, he is being turned into the poster child for trigger-happy cops. Cross knows it was self-defense. But will a jury see it that way? As Cross and Sampson race to prevent another mass murder, their fearsomely armed opponent once again looks skyward. BookShots
