About this deal

Robin was born in California and grew up in an Oxford college, across the road from the house where Alice in Wonderland lived. She has been making up stories all her life. It also won a 2015 Waterstones Children's Book Prize in the 5-12 Fiction category. [7] Sequel and Series [ edit ]

Daisy, Hazel, Amina , Alexander and George , they together solved the case. Even Hazel’s father, her sisters, Uncle Felix and Aunt Lucy were there😂 I didn’t expect all of them to be in a single book❤️ Daisy is the youngest child and only daughter of George and Margaret Wells. She has an older brother called Bertie, who calls her Squashy since she (supposedly) was a fat baby. He once attempted to push her down the stairs.

WELL. So at least 2020 gave me today off so I could read Death Sets Sail in one sitting as soon as I received it in the post. All is not lost this year, apparently. As they investigate their most difficult case yet, it becomes clear to Daisy and Hazel that the victim’s daughter is being framed — but there’s danger all around, and only one of the Detective Society will make it home alive.

I had finished DSS by the end of the day, I almost cried when Hazel had crossed out “vice” at the beginning, and it was a really emotional first chapter, The murder itself was absolutely thrilling, and I just couldn’t work it out! The solution was extraordinary, and I really think, that you captured Egypt in the 1930’s (I quite liked reading about the breath of life, although it did make me feel frustrated like Amina that they thought they knew everything about Ancient Egypt but they actually had no idea, they are really horrible people, but, to be honest, quite funny to read about) The story is written in the style of a casebook and follows two fictional boarding schoolgirl detectives, Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong, as they try to find the murderer of their science teacher. The book has been nominated for several awards, including the Carnegie Medal. In the US, the book was published under the name Murder is Bad Manners. [2] Plot [ edit ] As there are police at the scene, they hand the diary over, the policeman understands everything and holds a denouement (the final part of the book, unveiling the murderer) and they finally arrest the murderer. My favourite couple in the books was Daisy and Amina, I am so happy that you put then together, in the eighth book (Top Marks For Murder ) I could just paint a clear picture of them two in my head, It was just such a beautiful, heartwarming and true moment when Amina and Daisy’s lips touched!

I wasn't a fan of the homage to Agatha Christie, as Stevens had already done this with First Class Murder. I wanted to see a more original concept- the cruise ship cabin set up is too similar to the rooms on the Orient Express in FCM. Then, the next day at Prayers, the other students also notice the absence of their science mistress, but they are satisfied when the headteacher informed them that she has received a resignation letter from Miss Bell. Following this, Miss Tennyson has also died. A note was beside her corpse, stating that the murderer was sorry, but she knew she had to do it. Daisy and Hazel, however, are not. They work tirelessly to piece the clues together and solve the mystery. Daisy is loyal to Hazel, but she’s overly assertive, a workaholic, and very eccentric. She is forceful and ropes Hazel into things and doesn’t like relaxing or staying put during a murder. She loves being a detective because of the adrenaline she gets from it. She is very clever but tries to hide it by deliberately messing up some questions on her test papers and during lessons. Daisy is also very determined. She also has a very high opinion of herself and her looks and often underestimates others. She doesn't like saying she's wrong and finds apologizing difficult.
