The first thing you will notice about the W240TN is they have moved away from that futuristic design seen with the Neobuds S. These buds are designed in the inspired style of a piston in a car engine but with a sleek design. The buds and the charging case are built using premium plastic material and provide that durable feel they don’t feel like they will break after a few uses. The buds do not protrude too much out of your ears and are lightweight at only 5.6g meaning after a long period of time you will forget they are even in your ears. There are three options of the Sound effect panel: Edifier Classic tuning and a Dynamic tuning that enhances both the treble and bass. Both presets are excellent. A third option allows a listener to customize the EQ and save those settings for future use.
Creative's Outlier Pros come in at about ten dollars more than the W240TNs, but focus more on extended battery, and less on sound quality. The Creative app gives you more control customization options, allowing custom left and right controls compared to the unified control scheme Edifier gives you. In addition to the audio quality and the ANC, you can also use these buds to take calls due to the built-in mics in both earbuds and the quality is fine I found I could be heard and could hear who is speaking clearly. If the environment is nice and quiet but as we know calls can happen at any time of the day. When you increase the outside noise the call quality can be affected, and more outdoor noise comes in than you might want. It’s a shame but these are budget-friendly in-ear headphones so it’s not a massive surprise. Battery Life First thing I did was replace the narrow diameter/bore eartips with ones with a 5mm diameter. This brought out a much better and unrestricted sound. I have no idea why they give you tips that restrict the sound. Dust and water resistance are not permanent, and the performance may deteriorate due to daily wear-and-tear. 10-Minute Fast Charge Enables – 2 Hours PlaytimeFor the W240TN to come with only SBC codec support seems silly, especially when numerous other wireless earbuds come programmed with AAC and aptX. Nonetheless, the streaming quality on iOS and Android devices was solid. You can expect a stable connection here, with the W240TN supporting Bluetooth 5.3. No dropouts or interferences were noticed throughout many hours of testing. Battery Life The Edifier W240TN are a fine-looking and sounding pair of wireless earbuds designed to compete with some of the category’s top performers. Detailed sonics combined with strong noise cancellation, connectivity, and craftsmanship make them well worth their asking price. Certain areas could be improved such as call quality, digital assistance, and wind resistance. Then again, compromises are expected for wireless earbuds this affordable, and the overall performance makes up for any shortcomings. There’s also a customizable EQ, but it’s a bit more complex than some other EQs as it uses unusual terms to describe level and frequency adjustment parameters that may make casual listeners feel overwhelmed. Thanks to its design, as well as its stable and secure fit, the W240TN’s noise-cancelling performance mostly impresses. Walking about with them in central London, the ANC thins out vehicles on the road without erasing them from your general vicinity, and they do this without applying a noise-cancelling ‘whine’, so what you get here is a fairly clean performance.
When listening, the setting for highest noise reduction gives the best bass and full range response. The noise reduction setting actually affects the sound equalization. Not sure why they did this. The Edifier W240TN doesn't just combine the best aspects of the energetic low-budget Edifier X3s , the warm Edifier TWS2 NB and the treble-intensive Edifier TWS1 Pro ; it sounds better then all of them.Under IP55 rate, dust and water won’t stop the W240TN, you can enjoy outdoor activities and gym sessions.
You cannot assign individual functions to individual earbuds, thereby limiting the onboard controls. Use Edifier Connect App to easily set your preferred button controls. Say goodbye to default factory settings and say hello to your own idea. EQ settings Walks were mostly peaceful. Landscaping tools and the construction work that took place on the Intracoastal Waterway were unnoticeable. I couldn’t say the same for ambulance sirens and police whistles, but neither of those noises was piercingly loud. Wind resistance wasn’t half bad either. Whisking effects produced in gusty conditions didn’t harm my hearing, and those that came from speeding cars barely made it onto the soundscape. Let's talk about the sound produced by the Edifier W240TN TWS earbuds. You should know that I lean towards the bassy spectrum of audio. That being said, the W240TN wireless earbuds produce crispy, detailed sound without overdoing the bass or drowning out the high notes. Personally, I do like heavily punchy sound, so I ended up adjusting the audio with the in-app EQ. Most other users are likely to be incredibly happy with the tune that the W240TN earbuds play. Edifier kept a lot of important factors in mind with the W240TN TWS earbuds. They are suitable for gym use where your hands tend to get sweaty and interfere with touch controls. I also recommend these earbuds for rainy regions where constant downpours plague the residents.
Design
The case has a soft touch finish with some nice curves and the case is not too large you can fit the case into your jeans without any issue. The size of the case measures 2.3 x 1.7x 1.1 inches and it’s lightweight at only 39.6g. What I really love about this case is the designer must have been a KnightRider fan as it has a LED strip that reminds me of Kit from the TV classic apart from the fact it’s a white light instead of red but it’s still very cool.
