About this deal

On each player’s turn, they may either add the top card of the draw or the discard pile to their hand.

Just like in Rummy, cards can only be removed from your hand in either a book or a run. Books are three (or more) matching cards; the suit doesn’t matter as long as the number is the same. Runs, on the other hand, are a numerical sequence of cards of the same suit. So, when 3 cards are dealt, the 3s are wild, when 4 cards are dealt, the 4s are wild and so on until the last round when the Kings go wild.I don’t know about you, but 8 missing cards for a set sounds better than 4 missing cards of a run. #3 Keep Nearby But Disconnected Run Cards J♦, or 6♦, 7★, 7 ★, 9 ★ . You can have as many wild cards or Jokers in a run as you wish (and they may be adjacent to each other).

To play Five Crowns by yourself, simply play the game as you normally would, though you won’t be able to draw from the discard pile (Why would you? They’re your cards!). If it’s your final turn after a player has gone out, then you may consider discarding a wild card or joker. You have to decide whether it is more important to reduce the number of points assigned to you, at the risk of helping another player lay out all of their cards. This may depend on the score differential between yourself and the current winning player, or player(s) closest to you if you are currently winning. The goal for each player is to play out their hand by creating sets or runs. A set or run must contain at least three cards. Keep Nearby But Disconnected Run Cards – Don’t get rid of just-off run cards. A wild or good draw can connect them all! As an incentive to “keep score,” I suggest counting all the points against you in your discard pile. It’ll be a lot, but you can compete against yourself or others to see who can get the lowest discard score.

Going Out: Start your turn as normal, then lay down your entire hand in books and/or runs on the table in front of you before discarding your last card. When the card for the round is dealt, the remaining cards should be placed in the middle, and these will then form the draw pile. Before starting the round, take one card off the pile and put it down, so it’s face-up; this card creates the discard pile. Book and Runs

Each round increases the number of cards you get (first round is 3, second is 4, etc.) until you reach thirteen cards.Jokers are always wild cards. There are also rotating wild cards that change every round. The rotating wild cards are based on the number of cards dealt that round. If there's a tie for the lowest score: have multiple winners OR deal a 6-card tie-breaking round for only the tied players to play. When all of the cards in a pile are successfully arranged into books and/or runs, it is closed and can be flipped over. Continue playing until all the piles are closed (you win) or the draw pile is depleted (try again). You can’t double-count cards for books at the end, but holding this at the beginning of a round is a smart idea to help you find matching cards. Game Play Rules Of Five Crowns
