About this deal

The Casio fx-CG50 isn’t very sleek or lightweight, but I think that it has a moderately appealing design. The color scheme and physical look of the fx-CG50 make it seem like the big brother of the Casio ClassWiz fx-991EX. Below on the left is the Casio ClassWiz fx-991EX (a scientific calculator) next to the Casio fx-CG50. One unique thing about the Casio fx-CG50 is its ability to graph 3D shapes. Most calculators in this price range can’t do that. Graphing 3D shapes isn’t something that you really need to do for most high school math, but later in college or in a non-standard high school math class you might find yourself using this feature. The Casio FX-CG50 is capable of performing a wide range of mathematical operations, including basic arithmetic, algebraic equations, and statistical calculations. It also supports graphing functions, making it a useful tool for students and professionals alike.

The high resolution color screen is also a plus for usability. You are able to see more items in each menu at once and the colors make the important things and pieces of information pop. Textbook Printing and Exact Answers Things like graphing are where calculators with color screens really shine. The fx-CG50 lets you graph up to 20 lines on the same graph But, of course, it’s not always obvious where to start when introducing a new device with so many capabilities. To help teachers new to using the fx-CG50 in the classroom, we sat down with mathematician and Casio trainer Simon May to find out his top tips for teachers getting started with the fx-CG50 and share his advice on using the device.Getting started with calculations is fairly intuitive. When dealing with fractions, you can input fractions quite nicely using the default fraction button, which every calculator has. You can use S to D to interchange between fractions and decimal solutions. Featuring a large memory capacity, the calculator allows for the storage and retrieval of data, formulas, and graphs. Additionally, it supports data transfer to personal computers and can be connected to other devices for enhanced functionality. The history feature means you can do a calculation and then do another calculation with that answer. However, unlike on scientific calculators there is more than one line of input shown, meaning you can expand or amend a series of calculations further and even go off the screen – you can keep scrolling down, and you’re not limited to the space shown on the screen. Exploring graph mode Technical amendments and errors excepted. The sizes in figures do not correspond to the original sizes.

Table mode is accessed from the Main Menu by pressing t”7”. It’s worth noting that both Table mode and Graph mode carry the functions over, so you don’t have to enter anything new. After entering a function, you can use the on-screen choice to set the table’s start and finish value and the interval. When you press TABLE, it will populate the values for you. You can scroll across the table and explore the values, or you can change the table by editing an existing x-value. You can evaluate more than one function at a time. Simply scroll to see all the values. So, again, you’re not limited to what’s just on screen. Stats mode on the fx-CG50 The fx-CG50 brings maths to life with the next generation of graphic calculator technologies; including high-resolution colour display with natural textbook display, innovative picture plot function enabling analysis of images and video, and an extensive range of graphic functions. The fx-CG50 has all the functionality of the fx-CG20 with the addition of 3D graphs. A really convenient feature on the Casio fx-CG50 is the textbook style printing of inputs and answers. What I mean by this is that the calculator will display expressions as they would be written out instead of how they would normally appear on a calculator. That means that fractions look like fractions rather than like this 2/3 and other things like exponents will actually be smaller numbers raised and to the right of their bases. This feature is becoming more and more common which is great because it makes reading and entering expressions much easier. You can also select different series of the elements in the table. For example, you can see all of the Alkali Metals selected in the table below. The graphing app on the Casio fx-CG50 is great. It is simple but capable and does everything you need it to in an easy to use fashion. This powerful calculator enables you to plot and analyse graphs and their transformations, import data directly over USB, plot data charts and calculate statistics, calculate and visualise probability distributions, plot and solve graphs in 3D, calculate matrix and vector arithmetic, perform complex calculations not possible on a scientific calculator, calculate spreadsheets and recursive sequences, and whole host more. We think that The Casio fx-CG50 is basically a better, nicer, version of the Casio fx-9750GII. There is a pretty big price difference, but you get a nicer build, a color screen and some more advanced features. Features and Capabilities The 3D graphing app isn’t totally open though. You can choose to graph 5 different shapes a line, a plane, a sphere, a cylinder and a cone. First you select one of these shapes and then you enter the numbers into the preset equation. You can’t just graph arbitrary equations. Below is an image of all the apps in the home screen, just so you can get an idea of all of the apps this calculator includes. The Casio FX-CG50 calculator is a functional and reliable tool for mathematical calculations. With a sleek design, it offers a user-friendly interface and high-quality display. The calculator is equipped with a color touchscreen that allows for easy navigation through various functions and menus.
