About this deal

Interesting. It's pretty clear the X1T is all around a better transmitter unit to use than the TT350. Because, unlike you, I shoot off-camera flash far more than on-camera, it was much easier for me to get a TT350-O for my GX7 for on-camera fill/bounce, and then primarily use it as a radio master for my two TT600 and TT685-C. Once you put it on a lightstand, the size/weight of a speedlight doesn't matter so much... The power supply type for the Godox TT350 is a battery, with the unit supporting 2 AA batteries. This compact and lightweight design is convenient for outdoor use and on-the-go shooting. Third consideration, convenience. The sony 6300 is my most used digital camera, so I might like the convenience of TTL. If I want to be lazy and use TTL once every 5 times, will it be justified? Will I appreciate it? or will I not miss it if I never use it?

In Master mode, press the Slave button to alternate between the Master group (M) and the A, B or C groups. To use the radio features, hold down the Sync button and then twist the dial when the antennae icon flashes.

I am building a flash kit because some of my older YN flashes have corroded beyond usability; and I was gifted a godox x2T transmitter without lights or supported receiver (X1R). I was attracted to the convenience of being able to adjust power on camera. I am torn between the wide variety of Godox has to offer. While the flash does have a bounce card, I prefer using reverse bounce for on-camera situations to create a larger light source coming from behind me.

had the flash pointed up and a little bit forward toward the subject to be evenly lit. I found bouncing off the sides didn't work as well for what I wanted. Godox – the mighty Chinese brand that’s sweeping the lighting world, bringing fear to long-established premium brands. And their quality has reached the point where they can now be trusted. My TT350-O works perfectly on-camera with my GX7. TTL, HSS, 2nd curtain, S1/S2, etc. all work as expected. My only big complaint is that it only swivels 270º.Even though TTL is very useful in situations with constantly changing lights, it’s also hard to debug in case things don’t work. That’s why so many people recommend shooting with flash in manual mode. F8 and smaller incurs diffraction softening on Micro Four Thirds. F2.2 on MFT is the equivalent of f4.4 on a 35mm-format camera. As a slave unit, it cannot do cross-brand TTL. So, using my TT685C as master on a 5DMkII and the TT350-O as slave meant that if I set TTL, it would only fire at full power. M mode power control and HSS worked fine. My iPhone+A1 can also control its power remotely, but obviously, without HSS or TTL function. Have a look at the pic of my three year old. I shot it with the 25mm f/1.7 Panasonic lens and the settings were at f/2.2 ISO 400 and 1/160 with my tt350o flash power set to 1/2 power. I had the flash pointed up and a little bit forward toward the subject to be evenly lit. I found bouncing off the sides didn't work as well for what I wanted.

So, just my opinion, if you're planning on shooting with the flash on-camera most of the time and your ceilings aren't more than 10' high, the TT350 is sufficient, but a TT685 might be nicer if you can handle the weight/size. Any stand will do, even the cheap Photo-R stands . I find Neewer to be great value for money, although in the studio I prefer using C-Stands even with speedlights. Master and Slave You could also look at the bigger-than speedlight options, like the AD200 (bare bulb flash), or the SK II series of monolights(which are pretty much in speedlight price territory). The battery compartment is pretty straightforward, except it only holds two AA batteries, which gives you a big hint about its power output (spoiler: it’s not super powerful, but it’s great). How do I get the next level now? Do I get the flash off the camera and shoot through an umbrella or do I start looking at getting something more powerfull? Most of us who do off-camera flash with speedlights do so because of the Strobist. It's mostly about cost and convenience, and starting out with what you have. A lot of us already had a speedlight in the bag. And a speedlight can be used both on and off camera. The portability of working with speedlights is the other advantage to weigh against the much lower power and smaller size of the light. If you plan to use the TT350 for off-camera flash, you have one universal way to do it and a Godox-only way.
