A cacophony of light, fruity flavours. On their own, each flavour is quite mild but the combination of light florals, apples and pears makes for a big flavour profile. The triple distillation makes for a brilliantly smooth whisky (as you’d expect). Hazelburn is the standard release of Springbank’s unpeated malt whisky line. It is triple distilled and as always, bottled without chill filtration or added coloring. Hazelburn is named after the Hazelburn Distillery which operated in Campbeltown from 1825 to 1925. At one point, they were the town’s largest producer of Scotch whisky. Tasting Notes Hazelburn is one of three styles of whisky produced at Springbank, known for being triple distilled and unpeated, whereas Springbank single malt is distilled two-and-a-half times and is lightly peated, and Longrow single malt is twice distilled and heavily peated. Year Old: This whisky is matured in a combination of American oak and bourbon barrels, creating a subtle nose with notes of vanilla, sea spray, and spicy fruits. Despite Glengyle’s limited production quantities, the production process is still carried out according to the time-honoured methods, ensuring its exceptional quality. The distinct character of Glengyle’s Kilkerran single malt includes orange, lemon, vanilla, butterscotch, smoke, and salt. Their latest bottlings include: Double Cask: Matured in bourbon barrels and finished for 12 months in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, this whisky offers a spicy, fruity taste with Glen Scotia’s famous sea spray and vanilla oak overlay. Finish: Medium in length with a continuation of the fruit theme. Lingering notes of peach pie with some sweet vanilla cream topping. There’s also some amaretto-like sweetness with a slight contrasting bitterness that adds a bit of depth. The finish tapers off with more of the spice notes from the palate.
