About this deal

Shatter Me was Mafi’s debut novel and was published when she was only 23 years old. The original trilogy went on to be translated into more than 30 languages and sell more than a million copies. But nothing learned within the novellas is crucial to the plot of the main series. They’ll only provide extra details that make the novels more impactful.

Sonya and Sara. They were there too, the healer twins, they helped Warner. They helped him save me because he’s the only one who can touch me now, the only person in the world who’d have been able to transfer their healing power safely into my body. Oh, Tahereh Mafi. You made me cry. You made me laugh. You made me blush severely. You made me nervous. You also did not do what I thought you were going to do. Nope. I definitely went into Ignite Me with some pretty strong predictions for what was going to happen but neither of them happened. Read a full summary of Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi below. If you can’t remember what happened in Ignite Me and you need a refresher, then you’re in the right place. in short People want to know about the Supreme Commander. Adam tells them his first name – Paris. Warner gets suspicious because no one is supposed to know his name. Juliette finally reveals that Adam and James are Warner’s brothers.

Goodreads Summary:

Kenji and Juliette board the ship. They get separated and Juliette is no longer invisible. She has to fight a tonne of soldiers, but eventually she finds Sara and Sonya.

Juliette is smuggled out of the base and taken to Omega Point. They meet Kenji there. Warner borrows his power. Juliette leaves with Kenji. One side effect of this is that throughout the book there are crossed out lines, as if Juliette is writing in a journal and crosses out things she initially wrote, but changed her mind. This ends the original Shatter Me trilogy, but Mafi wrote three more novels 4 years after the completion of the first trilogy. Let’s also talk about how Tahereh Mafi made me blush harder than I ever have reading a book –especially YA. STEAMY MCSTEAMY. Holy crap. If Tahereh Mafi wrote an adult romance novel, YEP I’d be reading it.

So basically Ignite Me pretty much starts off where Unravel Me leaves off with Juliette getting shot and Omega Point being destroyed. She’s clued in to what has happened and now Juliette becomes even more determined to take down the Reestablishment — at whatever cost — and she needs Warner to do it. In Unravel Me, she largely is learning about her powers and trying to OWN them and is also trying to heal mentally and overcome everything that happened in Shatter Me. In Ignite Me, Juliette stops feeling sorry for herself and goes balls to the walls with wanting to really 100% understand and control her powers for the good of the people. Omega Point has been destroyed, and everyone is dead. Sara and Sonya are in the capital. Juliette wants to rescue them and kill Warner’s father. The Shatter Me series is a YA Fantasy Romance. So let’s dissect that. First, Romance is an important aspect of the plot and it does contain romantic elements. But it’s also YA, or Young Adult, meaning that it’s meant for ages 13 to 17. Tahereh Mafi is a best-selling YA Fantasy author best known for the Shatter Me series. However, she’s also written other books like This Woven Kingdom and A Very Large Expanse of Sea. The latter was named one of the best YA books of all time by Time Magazine.

What the novellas do is provide extra insight into the world of Shatter Me. They’re often from a different POV. For instance, Destroy Me, the first novella, is from Warner’s POV. He is the villain of the first novel. With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn't know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won't keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Kenji and Juliette reunite with the group. Warner then shows up and Adam gets angry. He refuses to help Juliette fight the Re-establishment because of Warner. Adam tells Warner to leave. Warner’s father put a bullet in my body and I can still feel the echoes of it. If I focus, I can relive the exact moment it happened; the pain: so intense, so excruciating; I’ll never be able to forget it. Now, if I’m being honest, there were a few things (mostly small-ish things besides the one I’m going to talk about) that weren’t perfect for me but it was one of those reading situations where it didn’t really matter for me. The heart of the story, my feelings, and just my love for the series/characters made my brain gloss over them. I have no regrets.

Hobbies

A lot of readers find this rather annoying, but you get used to it as you go along. It’s much easier for me to deal with than when an entire book is written in a different dialect, like Goddess in the Machine. Who is Tahereh Mafi?

Juliette announces to the entire sector that the Supreme Commander is dead and she is in charge now. She goes out onto the battlefield where everyone can see her. They have stopped fighting and they salute and cheer her. Her friends have all survived, including Aaron Warner who stands at her side. Warner and Juliette have a bit of a moment, but Juliette doesn’t tell Warner she loves him so he gets a bit off with her. Warner and his servant, Delaleui, smuggle Juliette out of the compound. Warner takes her to Omega Point which is now nothing but a crater in the ground. They see Kenji there. Warner borrows Kenji’s invisibility power without even touching him. Warner allows Juliette to go with Kenji but gives her a panic button so she can call for help. A sharp intake of breath and I’m awake but not up, surprised but not scared, somehow staring into the very desperately green eyes that seem to know too much, too well. Aaron Warner Anderson is bent over me, his worried eyes inspecting me, his hand caught in the air like he might’ve been about to touch me.

Creative Play

Let’s Talk: PLEASE warn readers of spoilers in the comments should you talk about any! (THANKS!). What did you think of this one?? Were you pleased with the outcome? With the resolution to the love triangle? Are you sad for the series to come to an end?? Juliette tells everyone that she is in charge now that the Supreme Commander is dead. Everyone salutes her as Warner stands next to her.
