About this deal

With Aelin captured, Aedion and Lysandra remain the last line of defense to protect Terrasen from utter destruction. Yet they soon realize that the many allies they’ve gathered to battle Erawan’s hordes might not be enough to save them. Scattered across the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon, and Dorian are forced to forge their own paths to meet their fates. Hanging in the balance is any hope of salvation―and a better world. No spoilers in the beginning of this rapid review of Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas. (I’ll put a few spoilers under the **SPOILERS** mark below.) And let’s just get this out of the way right now: I don’t think I can call this review a rapid one. 😉 This series and this book are too long to keep my review short. I promise I’ll do better with brevity in my next review!

In Kingdom of Ash, Aelin has been delving into her power for three months to face and kill Maeve. Instead, she uses that power to stop a giant tidal wave from destroying Anielle. When the witches all start flying north it gave me all the same feelings as the lighting of the beacons in the Lord of the Rings—”Gondor calls for aid!”—and all the goosebumps, too.Aelin can be a bit vain. Even during her time as an assassin, she was meticulous in managing her appearance. She has a fixation on finery and insists on wearing fashionable clothing and would feel shame when presented in a less than flattering light. When she was first presented to Prince Dorian in Throne of Glass, she felt embarrassment for being so dirty from her imprisonment, though outwardly she hid it well. When Aelin passes through worlds, she sees two Fae—a winged male and a very pregnant female. The male lifts his hand and sends a gust of magic to slow her down. This is Rhysand and Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses. In the same scene, she passes a world with a city built along the curve of a river with incredibly tall buildings. This is Lunathion, also known as Crescent City, from the series by the same name. She did not know how long the gaps lasted between her screaming and waking. Between the pain ending and starting anew. Dorian sneaks into Morath, where he discovers that Maeve has come to speak to Erawan. After pretending to work with her, Dorian, so satisfyingly, turns off Maeve’s portalling power, uses her own deceiving power against her, and brings down what’s left of Morath. With all three keys, he shifts and flies north. Not the queen’s hunter, who could draw out pain like a musician coaxing a melody from an instrument. But the massive white wolf, chained by invisible bonds. Forced to witness this.

In Orynth, Aedion and his forces set a trap for Morath's fleet and manage to destroy two of the three witch towers, crippling the third. Morath still outnumbers his force with 100,000 soldiers. Celaena is a name derived from Celaeno, which means "dark one," and is also a star in the constellation of Taurus and a member of the Pleiades. Rowan Whitethorn has been hunting his wife Aelin for two months with the aid of his companions, Elide, Gavriel and Lorcan. He is barely eating or sleeping. The prince whose scent was kissed with pine and snow, the scent of that kingdom she had loved with her heart of wildfire. One night, the King of Adarlan decided to overthrow one of his major political opponents, the royal family of Terrasen, and to conquer their country for his own. Aelin discovered the deaths of her parents when she climbed into their bed thinking the wetness on the bed was due to rain coming in from the open window in their chamber and woke to a maid's screams to discover the bed was soaked with their blood. Her mother's dearest friend, Lady Marion Lochan, sacrificed herself to allow Aelin to escape and survive the massacre of her family. She fell into a river, and only Elena sacrificing herself to save her kept her alive. The King cemented his rule over Erilea by promoting across the country the deaths of the Terrasen nobility, all the while unaware of the survival of Aelin. After the deaths of her parents and Orlon, her uncle and King of Terrasen, she became the sole survivor of Terrasen's royal family. When she was young, she was infatuated with Ben, Arobynn's second-in-command, and Archer Finn, a courtesan, whom she later kills. [7]
