About this deal

I keep testing this fragrance in the hope that I might eventually like it enough to buy a full bottle. It has everything going for it; it's a Guerlain with an affordable price, good longevity and projection, and a nice bottle design. Their longevity is decent. After few hours, only sweet notes remain close to the skin - which is a standard for me. It distantly reminds me of Dazzle by Paris Hilton, a celebrity perfume centered around "sour cherry" that my mom gave me when I was in my teens. La Petite Robe Noir is much more complex & sophisticated than Dazzle, but it gives off the same flirtatious, girlish energy. These days my mind is far removed from playful girly scents, but not so far removed that this can't put a smile on my face. It's very pleasant and somewhat nostalgic. :-) Woooh. Ok. Good news- I can smell ever note listed! That is unusual for me, maybe my sniffer is becoming more refined.

The house of Guerlain launched an exclusive and limited edition La Petite Robe Noire in February 2009. In February 2011, it also presented the second limited edition of the line—La Petite Robe Noire 2. In early 2012, Guerlain decides to relaunch the debut and to offer the fragrance to a broad market. The new La Petite Robe Noire is modified, developed by the in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser. The first time I tried this was in an airport duty free shop right before I boarded a long flight home. I couldn't smell anything, which was odd, but the person sitting next to me sure smelled good. I considered asking him if it was his or his girlfriend's fragrance, but they didn't speak my language and I didn't speak theirs, so I let it go. And then... later when I walked down the aisle and passed a flight attendant I noticed her perfume was that same deliciousness I smelled on the people sitting next to me. When this came out I couldn't deal with the sweet and gourmand facets, and basically ignored it. Now that I've found an-almost full 50 ml bottle in a thrift shop, it's interesting to re-assess LPRN since all the fuss has died down. Obviously there are other notes that can make a fragrance powdery, but these are the most common ones by my (limited knowledge). Hope this helps 😊 I think I prefer this to BP, BP doesn't last nearly as long or as potent as this does with my skin chemistry. The leather is an elegant touch but it's a much softer alternative to the original. To be perfectly honest, they both smell SO similar you wouldn't really know the difference without having them side by side!

I admire this one quite a bit. It's a Guerlain fragrance so it's well done. One of the more unique, interesting candy-sweet perfumes I've tried. It's a refreshing change of pace. I appreciate it and I'm glad it's here. The performance of this fragrance is amazing. I find it lasts 10+ hours and projects quite a bit for 4-6 hours and the scent trail is delicious. It doesn't need a heavy spray to get that performance, but I do like to add an extra couple sprays when I wear it for a night out. I did overspray it one time...and it was not good...way too much.

Avon Little Black Dress - Black Edition Eau de Parfum 1.7oz

PRICE: It's definitely up there in price, but it's not the most expensive you'll find on the market. It's much cheaper than brands like Frederic Malle, Byredo & Diptyque for EDPs.The output is very potent and it doesn't fade in about 30 minutes, as most of the fragrances. It manages to stay alive and even overlap at heart notes. So, on my skin, I haven't seen almost nothing of roses or tea. What's left was a very medicinal aroma, combined with a nuance of liquorice, which could be improved, and only after a long time, the base began holding the strange and sweet fragrance and turned out to be more balanced, mature and creamy. Then, it became easier to perceive the presence of vanilla and patchouli. I personally found this scent quite cloying and slightly overpowering and it made me sneeze and have a headache. I'm really not into gourmand fragrances at all and i don't like scents that are spicy and/or super sweet... La Petite Robe Noire is both of those things... I don't know how a fragrance house can make me semi-psychotic about getting a bottle of almost cherry-flavoured medicine, but Guerlain win that particular trophy. It then settles to an uber-glamourous scent. Rest assured, it *does* calm down. It's still cherry-heavy, but that almond is actually quite gentle, and I do honestly detect a small amount of rose and iris which I believe brings the glam factor (Not The X-Factor, geddit?).

I refer to the EDP version. This is my favorite "afternoon" perfume - for a coffee with a friend, for a walk and shopping in the city, for a casual date with my husband. They are too strong to wear them in the office (unless really a few drops), but too weak for the evening. Tony Shades: the powdery notes are actually listed. The most common notes that make a fragrance powdery are Iris (often listed as Orris root, as it is the root that is used for natural Iris), and violet. Perfumes with lots of purple flowers are almost always powdery. Another note that is often powdery is rose. There are two types of Roses in this fragrance, so it’s unsurprising that this fragrance is powdery especially in combination with the Iris. No, this is more of a subdued lament. A tinge of sadness at what I had assumed was going to be a guaranteed love-match...only to be left feeling somewhat unfulfilled. I was supposed to love this perfume; alas upon purchasing it, I merely platonically like it. I'm 24 almost 25 a mom of two boys under 3 years old. I have a big perfume collection most of which are sweet younger scents. I want to try guerlain because I've heard so many good things about the company. This one seemed safest to try out first. It's a powdery cherry that fades from being tart to sweet to tart again. It's beautiful the way it develops. I absolutely love it. It seems sophisticated while being youthful at the same time. It's really different from anything I've tried. I don't get much licorice in this. Just a hint of it here and there more so further in the drydown.Let me also point out that I never could smell the rose, patchouli, or the bergamot not on my skin anyways. I am a huge fan of cherry and almond as flavors combined in winter desserts and I am always searching for more beverages. It isn't unheard of for me to throw almond extract into cherry soda. When I tried a very old LPRN sample from my mom, at first I wasn't sure I liked it, but then I watched a movie, all cozy up, and I couldn't stop sniffing myself. But I was so confuse when I bought a bottle: Is this Ma Première Robe or not ? Are the notes on Fragrantica right for the current version sold in stores ? It drives me crazy when brands do stuffs like that. I was asking myself if I've bought the right version, because on the box it says Ma Première Robe, but when I ask the SA she said it's the original. Anyway, I adore the one I bought, this is my signature scent if I have one, but I felt my sample was sourer or maybe it's just because it was old, I don't know. As for the comparison to Lolita, I don't see any resemblance to that one; at least on my skin, Lolita is a suffocatingly sweet mess.

Having smelled a lot of perfume in the last decade and shed some of my own snooty views (I hope), and now that most of the flankers are gone, I can at last appreciate this, the 2012 EDP. The opening is joyful, and although the cherry berry sweetness still bothers me a little, I can smell through it to the many other notes and accords. I get most of them including a teasing little plastic accord somewhere in there, and superb patchouli at the end. It was exciting for me to smell all! Base notes touch down so well after a little cherry bombing some more.

Don't get me wrong, I like quite a few gourmands. And I'm capable of enjoying something very sweet, occasionally - Angel Eau Sucrée is the sweetest of all in my collection, but I can't handle anything sweeter than this. And here is my honest point of view : LPRN is too sweet for me. Much too sweet. The upside is the fact that it is impossible for a woman to wear this perfume and not be noticed, because exudes and lasts surprisingly. The downside is that the climate of Brazil did not help and the perfume requires a lot of flexibility to be enjoyed. I believe to be most appropriate for night time use and sparingly. The general trend, with few exceptions, seems to be: if, A) the juice is pink or, B) the bottle is pink, the fragrance will be too sweet for my liking. La Petite Robe Noire is the rare exception to the trend. For me this is cherry up top- it hits hard and acidic and becomes cherry cough syrup before clouding over with almond sparkles.
