About this deal

From the bold red letters and working windmills on the front of the theatre, to the set spilling out beyond the stage, with a tall red windmill spinning to your left and a large, partial elephant statue to your right, you’ll feel like you’re right in the heart of the Moulin Rouge with Satine and Christian. He repaid the favor with beautiful colorful paintings portraying the dancers, prostitutes and the Parisians in these clubs and cabarets.

Commentators have also noted the similarities between the film's plot and those of the opera La Traviata [16] and Émile Zola's novel Nana. [17] Other cinematic elements appear to have been borrowed from the musical films Cabaret, [18] Folies Bergère de Paris, and Meet Me in St. Louis. Frequently Asked Questions for Moulin Rouge Tickets

Moulin Rouge! ( / ˌ m uː l æ̃ ˈ r uː ʒ/, French: [mulɛ̃ ʁuʒ] [6]) is a 2001 jukebox musical romantic drama film directed, produced, and co-written by Baz Luhrmann. It follows a young English poet, Christian, who falls in love with the star of the Moulin Rouge, cabaret actress and courtesan Satine. The film uses the musical setting of the Montmartre Quarter of Paris and is the final part of Luhrmann's " Red Curtain Trilogy", following Strictly Ballroom (1992) and Romeo + Juliet (1996). A co-production of Australia and the United States, it features an ensemble cast starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, with John Leguizamo, Jim Broadbent, Richard Roxburgh, Jacek Koman and Caroline O'Connor featured in supporting roles. Via a lush photo essay and oral history, the process of crafting Moulin Rouge! The Musical springs to life from early sketches, historical research, technical diagrams, and rehearsal photos. Theatre writer David Cote gathers the cast and crew’s firsthand accounts of the excitement and challenges of creating a show that referenced as much as it reinvented the Broadway musical. From set and costume design to casting and opening night, readers witness the creation and birth of this gem in modern musical theatre. But Moulin Rouge! The Musical in London is more than a stage show, it’s a state of mind. The Piccadilly Theatre exterior now boasts a large, red windmill, in honour of the real Moulin Rouge Paris nightclub. Plus, there’s eye-popping costumes, energetic choreography, and a pop-fuelled score, making this show a feast for all the senses. Get ready to feel your Freedom, Beauty, Truth, and Love. What is Moulin Rouge! The Musical about? In the liner notes to the film's Special Edition DVD, Luhrmann writes that "[the] whole stylistic premise has been to decode what the Moulin Rouge was to the audiences of 1899 and express that same thrill and excitement in a way to which contemporary movie-goers can relate." [29] Both Roger Ebert and The New York Times compared the film's editing and cinematography to that of a music video and noted its visual homage to early Technicolor films. [30] [18] Music [ edit ] The book follows the painter's life from his birth in Albi to his death in Saint-André-du-Bois. Toulouse-Lautrec's life, as beautifully written by la Mure, besides showing a problematic -and premature- relationship with alcohol, was characterised with a talent that overcame his physical condition, same talent that sat him next to some of the greatest artistic minds of the period such as Degas, Pizarro, Debussy, Van Gogh among others.

When I read this book many years ago, I fell in love and was intrigued by bohemian Montmarte. I loved reading about its Parisian cafes, the brothels, the seedy bars and nightclubs. And of course, I fell in love with the complex and sad life of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The book doesn’t mention it, but we know that he contracted symphillis from the prostitutes and suffered from that as well. Tot datorită ei am reuşit să citesc volumul, căci în limba română a fost publicat în anii '70 într-un tiraj limitat.
