About this deal

The A10 have a very natural, fresh tonality and head stage, with good width and depth. The focus on the midrange, with a recessed lower frequency response permits a perceived sense of depth and positioning, and allows for good separation - it's easy to separate instruments and locate exactly where they are around you. I tested with a number of different genres and found imaging to be very accurate throughout. Despite the clean nature to the sound signature, trebles are not too bright - there's texture and finesse to tams, shakers and cymbals, without ever sounding shrill or edgy. The sound actually reminds me of Beyerdynamic headphones with their peak in the mid to lower treble, dip in the midrange, then a bass boost around 200hz somewhere. It results in a somewhat crisp sound, punctuated by an elevated yet tight bass. For me, the A10 are a pleasant listen, with good detail and adequate resolution - it's a shame there's no app for users to tweak the sound to their own personal preference, and hopefully this will come in time, at least for iPhone users who don't have the benefit of Wavelet to call upon. Bass is overly present, with a large bump in the mid-bass section which has quite steep slopes on both sides. It often sits on top of mids, masking their lower section. It’s rather limited in speed, with transients being slow and then having a long decay; this makes bass not quite detailed nor layered. Yes, these headphones enable you to make and receive telephone calls. There are built in microphones enabling you to talk through the headphones. Yes Siri can be used with the headphones via voice activation.

TaoTronics’ budget SoundSurge 60 headphones are well made but blighted by a muddy, wayward bass, while Anker’s Soundcore Life Q20 perform well wirelessly but poorly when you use the bundled auxiliary cable. As OneOdio’s wired flagship, the Pro-50 Studio is Hi-Res certified and has upgraded 50mm drivers designed for a quote “accurate sound with a detailed high-end and well-tuned mid-range, plus a clear low-end with a slight boost.” Like with many affordable headphones, these too change their sound when you enable noise cancellation. Overall, the OneOdio Pro 50 Studio is a fun-sounding headphone with thumping subwoofer-like bass and decent sparkle in the highs. It’s not overly veiled or muddy, which is a win at this price range. I wouldn’t call it an audiophile headphone, but it has enough detail throughout the audioband to keep things interesting. The headphones contain 40mm speaker units so the overall sound is very good. The noise cancellation is also great.

The difference between the two modes is mostly in the bass, which gets surprisingly flat with ANC function enabled. Also, it slightly lowers sound volume. Bass

The OneOdio A10 feature the Bluetooth 5.0 standard together with the SBC and AAC codecs. The connection is stable, but it doesn’t offer a wide range. Surely the OneOdio A70 aren’t quite what I call a “best buy”. In fact they epitomise the kind of sound signature that I don’t like: there is no balance whatsoever, making it so that bass leaks over mids and treble has wild peaks that make it fatiguing. They’re just like the Pro-50: headphones that can be interesting if you really like this kind of tuning, but which otherwise aren’t great as their tuning limits them too much. OneOdio says you should use this for DJing (and I can’t say anything about this, as this is a field I don’t know enough about), as well as monitoring and mixing; I very much doubt that these headphones can be good for mixing, due to their heavily coloured signature that can mask details and give a wrong impression of how the music really sounds. They can surely be fun if you listen to bass-heavy electronica or other similarly bass-intensive genres. The only issue is with those chrome earcups: they show up greasy fingerprints badly and need constant cleaning. Welcome to the @regancipher review of OneOdio's over-ear hybrid ANC headphones, the upgraded for 2022 Focus A10. With the glut of TWS passing through the RC test bench, it has been a while since I've documented a review of a wired/wireless headphone here at Headfi - the last ones being the Soundcore Q series and Tronsmart Apollo Q10 - but the competitive price and impressive feature set definitely catch the eye with the A10, and with OneOdio being a specialist over-ear vendor, rather than a TWS manufacturer going off on a tangent, this has been a review I've been really looking forward to doing, having put the product rigorously through it's paces over the course of the last few weeks. On the other hand, extra bass from the ANC OFF mode helps balance out that slightly aggressive higher frequencies. Treble Morton Gould’s ‘American Salute’ is as good as any way of sorting the men from the boys when it comes to the performance of headphones and speakers with classical music and here again, the A10s did well. Keeping the brass and strings in focus in this piece is not easily done but the A10s managed. Crank up the volume on an album like Robyn’s “Bodytalk Part 1” and the A10s are in their element, the pumping bass coming across hard and clear.

As for stability, these headphones aren’t meant to be used in a gym. The clamping force isn’t strong enough to securely keep them on your head. They’re comfortable enough for daily use, have good active noise cancelling performance, more than adequate battery capacity, and excellent microphone quality. The problem with the sound with ANC on is that the upper midrange and treble are too boosted and therefore too harsh. The weakest aspect of the OneOdio Monitor 60 wired headphones is the one that's probably most important to you: sound quality. Things start well with a reasonably wide soundstage. But, as you listen, you'll realize there's not much excitement behind the OneOdio Monitor 60, although the sound is fairly clean at least. Having both wired and wireless functionality is always appreciated, for those times when you leave home only to realise that you've forgotten to charge the headphones; for those long trips away from civilisation when battery life might not be sufficient; or simply to enjoy the best sound possible. A wired connection still trumps Bluetooth audio and will probably continue to best it for quite some time. When you've got big-sounding, punchy, clear 40mm drivers capable of satisfactorily reproducing Hi-Res Audio, as you have with these A10s, you might well opt to listen wired more often.
