Oddly, the section "Exploring Jurassic Park Part 2" of the Topps comic Jurassic Park II and the Jurassic Park Topps card for Parasaurolophus states that it was cut from Jurassic Park [21] [17] even though a herd can be seen at the Watering Hole with Brachiosaurus. The large surface area and vascularization of the crest also suggests a thermoregulatory function. [40] P.E. Wheeler first suggested this use in 1978 as a way keep the brain cool. [41] Teresa Maryańska and Osmólska also proposed thermoregulation at about the same time, [42] and Sullivan and Williamson took further interest. David Evans' 2006 discussion of lambeosaurine crest functions was favorable to the idea, at least as an initial factor for the evolution of crest expansion. [26] Paleoenvironment [ ] When Roland and Ajay entered the T-Rex nest a dead Parasaurolophus was spotted and was probably one of the big predatores earlier victims. Many early suggestions focused on adaptations for an aquatic lifestyle, following the hypothesis that hadrosaurids were amphibious, a common line of thought until the 1960s. Thus, Alfred Sherwood Romer proposed it served as a snorkel, [28] Martin Wilfarth that it was an attachment for a mobile proboscis used as a breathing tube or for food gathering, [29] Charles M. Sternberg that it served as an airtrap to keep water out of the lungs, [30] and Ned Colbert that it served as an air reservoir for prolonged stays underwater. The Parasaurolophus in Jurassic Park: The Game appears to have been based on several Parasaur designs that were never seen physically in the films. They have bright yellow skin much like one of the Parasaurolophus maquettes made for The Lost World: Jurassic Park and the front half of the crest is red just like the lone Parasaurolophus walkeri seen on one of the murals of the Jurassic Park Visitors' Centre. The endorsement team saw a herd of Parasaurolophus at the Watering Hole of the Brachiosaurus Enclosure once they arrived on Isla Nublar. [4] They had a wide range of territory on the island. In the east, they coexisted with Gallimimus, Pachycephalosaurus, and Mamenchisaurus. [3] In the west, they lived alongside with Ankylosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops, later even forming mixed herds with the related hadrosaur Corythosaurus. [5]

As is the case with most dinosaurs, the skeleton of Parasaurolophus is incompletely known. The length of the type specimen of P. walkeri is estimated at 9.5 meters (31 ft). Its skull is about 1.6 meters (5.2 ft) long, including the crest, whereas the type skull of P. tubicen is over 2.0 meters (6.6 ft) long, indicating a larger animal. [1] P. walkeri's weight is estimated at 3.6 tonnes (4 tons),P. tubicen is estimated to be 6.6 tonnes (7 tons) and P. cytocristatus ist estimated to be 12.6 tonnes (13 tons).single known forelimb was relatively short for a hadrosaurid, with a short but wide shoulder blade. The thighbone measures 103 centimeters (3.38 ft) long in P. walkeri and is robust for its length when compared to other hadrosaurids. [2] The upper arm and pelvic bones were also heavily built. [3] P. tubicen, from New Mexico, is known from the remains of at least three individuals. [4] It is the largest species, with more complex air passages in its crest than P. walkeri, and a longer, straighter crest than P. cyrtocristatus. During the events of 2022, several of these hadrosaurs were captured and transferred to the Biosyn Sanctuary, where they can be studied. A herd of original and accurate Parasaurolophus were running threw the snowy field in Sierra Nevada, chased by Owen and his DFW guys riding on the horse, leading them to the sanctuary. One of them escape the herd, leading to Owen being on a course and eventually capture it, allowing Owen to touch its face and tell him that everything will be okay and that he will be fine. As Owen, Shep and Rosa herded the Parasaur, they are confronted by Rainn Delacourt, disguised as a DFW officer and showing a fake badge, and accused of illegal poaching. Owen eventually gave in after a gun confrontation and handed the dinosaur to Delacourt. [14] Wilfarth, Martin, 1947. It states that "[Parasaurolophus] appear to stay pretty close to other large herbivores for protection."

Parasaurolophus was one of the many dinosaurs created by InGen on Isla Sorna for Jurassic Park that later went wild. It is presumed that most of the clones history was the same as the first three films. One Parasaurolophus was known to have had green and blue scales and was apparently nocturnal. [15] It’s also quite realistic compared to the scientists’ view of Parasaurolophus, though it’s a bit small: Paras grew to be almost as big as T-Rex. It’s arms may be a bit on the small side, since Parasaurolophus also used them for walking on (so they’re legs too to a certain extent): they weren’t used for running though, something this sculpt is good at. Additionally, it’s also nice to see this figure’s paint job being quite similar to the one the JPS2 Parasaurolophus baby (Tim Murphy’s hatchling) featured, adding some consistency between toy lines. Originally, the stamped scene in Jurassic Park III was to feature solely Parasaurolophus with their model reused from The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but Corythosaurus was added to the stamped when director Joe Johnston and visual effects supervisor Jim Mitchell felt there needed to be more variety. The Corythosaurus was created from the Parasaurolophus model from The Lost World: Jurassic Park. [39] The Parasaurolophus from the film received a new color scheme. Currie, Phillip J; and Russell, Dale A. "Geographic and stratigraphic distribution of dinosaur remains" in Dinosaur Provincial Park, p. 553. Computer modeling of a well-preserved specimen of P. tubicen, with more complex air passages than those of P. walkeri, has allowed the reconstruction of the possible sound its crest produced. [38] The main path resonates at around 30 Hz, but the complicated sinus anatomy causes peaks and valleys in the sound. [39] Cooling function [ ]
