About this deal

The V.F.D. Spyglass is introduced in this adaptation and carried on into the later Netflix series, in which all members of the organization carry a personalized spyglass.

While reading this book, I had a difficult time trying to decide who exactly this wonderful, strangle little book is for. And then after I read it and was intrigued by it and started it all over again, decided that it felt like it was just for me. Several books are required reading for apprentices, which contain codes and clues hidden inside. [1] It was later confirmed that the book would be published Summer 2021 during a Zoom Interview with Daniel Handler. [2] The book was released on August 31st, 2021. [1] Since I loved the ending and felt out of sorts about not giving the rest of it proper attention—it’s a perfect aftermath-(of just about anything) book—the next night I started over. No matter how bewildering life is, the essential thing is to keep reading.Neophytes go to the V.F.D. Headquarters where each is given a commonplace book and trained throughout childhood and into adulthood in a particular topic that interested them. According to Captain Widdershins, "V.F.D. isn't just a fire department. Aye–it started that way. But the volunteers were interested in every such thing!" What is known is that one evening Rasputin went to the Yusupov Palace in St Petersburg at the invitation of Prince Felix Yusupov. Rasputin’s dead body was recovered from the frozen Neva River days later. No one is completely sure what happened in between these two events.

Volunteers are recruited by V.F.D. at a very young age if they are seen by other volunteers to be observant, well-read, and excel in activities such as note taking, even those currently at apprenticeship. [5] Neophytes, or young trainees of V.F.D., are carried away by their ankles in the middle of the night. Henchperson of Indeterminate Gender (deceased in the books [16], alive and former in Netflix series [3]) Here, the myth does approach the truth. Though the Tsarina was in charge, Rasputin did wield great power as her adviser. The mystic healer wasted no time in appointing his own church ministers and other public officials. In any event, I did enjoy the book, even if it’s a novel about nothing and everything. No matter what age you are, and depending on your disposition to slightly challenging works of philosophy, add Poison for Breakfast to your menu of things to read. It’s a doozy of a book and will certainly make you think, and laugh, and sigh, and all of the things a good work of art will make you do. I can’t believe that I hadn’t encountered the work of this fabulous fictitious author before, but, one thing’s for sure, I sure hope he writes more books like this because while Poison for Breakfast may be an, ahem!, acquired taste, it’ll leave you hungry for sloppy seconds. Burp! The following article or section concerns information that is considered even less canonical than the chance of a happy ending. Any information following should not be used as a source for the canon of the book series.Poison for Breakfast is a classic-in-the-making that--in the great tradition of modern fables like The Little Prince and The Phantom Tollbooth--will delight readers of all ages. [1] Plot [ ] The following article or section concerns information that is considered canonical to the Netflix series, but it is unknown as to where it stands in the books' canon. It may also contain information contradictory to the books. Be very cautious when using this information as a source, or you may end up reporting for The Daily Punctilio, or on the lam. Whichever you consider worse. It is true that the body can develop a natural immunity or tolerance to some very toxic substances by administering very small doses over a period of time (this is definitely not a recommendation for DIY poison prevention). Some of these toxic compounds include snake venom, ricin and opiates, to name but a few. Unfortunately, cyanide isn’t one of those substances. You simply cannot build up a natural tolerance to cyanide by using this method.

Q: Though readers of all ages have enjoyed your previous novels, Poison for Breakfast feels more intentionally geared toward an older audience. What prompted this change of pace? Reading this little book feels like opening a window to let in air and light. It’s filled with curious information and powerful feelings, and is humorous, sad, meditative and rapturous by turns.’ Guardian A: If you are preoccupied with the fact that you will die, if there are scenes from movies and lines from books and verses from songs that cannot leave your head, if you are haunted by your own childhood and conversations you have had and events you have imagined but cannot forget, then you might find this book interesting. Also, I hope people can finally learn that scrambled eggs are garbage.Second, the writing is fun to read. It's a remix of murder mystery, philosophy and almost a memoir about death. The V.F.D. utilizes several codes for communication between Volunteers. After the schism, however, both sides continued to use the same codes, so it is very difficult, if not impossible, to tell if the member using the code is on the Fire-Fighting or the Fire-Starting side.
