About this deal

Just to let you know, if you feel the whole day’s training might be too much, you can leave after Part A (Taster) and join Part B and C on another day. The Explorer Nordic Walks are not about pace/speed, but instead about taking in and enjoying the area and nature. We anticipate the distance will be approximately 12.5kms. In Italy we get: Ciao, wet, wonderful, and magnifico. We get gondolas and gelato. And... that's about it. Yeah. Italy kind of gets the shaft here. Hot weather - Please ensure you have applied sunscreen on hot days. Bring plenty of water, to avoid dehydrating. A hat is useful if you are sensitive to the sun. A fascinating and thought-provoking analysis of the divisions between us, how we bridge them, how we reshape the world - and ourselves too. Essential reading.' Poles Apart by Ali Goldsworthy - Penguin Books Australia

Asks the best question I have ever heard. And, critically, offers solutions. A must read. Rory Sutherland, vice-chairman of Ogilvy UK, and author of Alchemy: The Surprising Power of Ideas That Don’t Make Sense These training sessions are for Nordic Walkers who would like to focus on increasing their pace and endurance, over longer distances. One of the aims will be for everyone to walk a minimum of 10 km's in the session. For those that are building up to the full 10km's, the session will be managed to enable you to Nordic at an appropriate pace and reduce the distance if required. I don't think the countries are explored or explained very well, but it might give you a jumping off point for young readers. I mean, if they can learn to visually identify the Sydney Opera House (and they don't live in Australia), I think that's a win. Perhaps the book will give them ideas about traveling, which is good.

The session will be done under the guidance/correction and motivation from a qualified Nordic Walking and First Aid Trained Instructor. Meeting Point: Grass in front of Pavilion Café Car Park, Church Rd, Wallington SM6 7NN - (Look for Poles Apart Flag) FINER DETAILS ARE SUBJECT TO ‘VERY MINOR’ CHANGES, E.G. START/END TIMES AND THE SPECIFIC MEETING POINT COULD MOVE/CHANGE A LITTLE.OH! And, I forgot the best part (and by best, I mean catastrophically bad). That bow tying up where Everett gets the girl? Well, he has to stalk her by donning a costume to pressure a receptionist (including by giving her flowers) into disclosing where his love interest now works. Then he stalks her over there, literally hoping for a rom-com ending... AND GETS IT. He interrupts her from seeing her clients, and Megan admits that she really knew deep down inside that Everett was a good guy. Low and behold, they start dating almost immediately and live happily ever after. Did a woman ever read this manuscript before approval?? In Poles Apart, an expert on polarisation, a behavioural scientist and a professional communicator explain why we are so prone to be drawn into rival, often deeply antagonistic factions. They explore the shaping force of our genetic make-up on our fundamental views and the nature of the influences that family, friends and peers exert. They pinpoint the economic and political triggers that tip people from healthy disagreement to dangerous hostility, and the part played by social media in spreading entrenched opinions. And they help us to understand why outlooks that can seem so bizarre and extreme to us seem so eminently sensible to those who hold them. Meeting Point: Pavilion Café. There is some limited parking there as well (although not shown on the map). You will receive support, technique guidance/correction and motivation from a qualified Nordic Walking and First Aid Trained Instructor. We do warm-up exercises before the session and cool-down stretches after our Nordic Walk. In Poles Apart, the authors give us a comprehensive review of the psychology of groupishness and polarisation. It's a fascinating read, which will help anyone who wants to step out of the polarisation cycle and become part of the solution, rather than part of the problem that is now damaging the world's leading democracies. Poles Apart! - Nosy Crow Poles Apart! - Nosy Crow

I really wanted to like this book, the synopsis was so intriguing and sounded like something right up my alley. I am a male who has written for feminists blogs. I grew up right as Jezebel and similar blogs were starting and took off. It sounded like a perfect read to look at some important, contemporary discussions and do so in a funny way. Further, I actually quite like Terry Fallis.. Cold weather – As well as layers of warm clothing, bring 'thin' gloves (not ski type gloves as you wear wrist straps) and a hat if the weather is cold. You will warm-up due to the cardiovascular nature of the class, but we are in Great Britain and on some days the 'fresh' breezes can keep the temperature down. Frankly, Fallis' most notable characteristic as a writer is that he's lazy. He could've written some compelling feministic essays; instead, he slapped some statistics at the end of the book outlining how far women have to go in terms of wage/employment equality and representation in the workforce. He could've written some funny jokes, but instead he wrote some sitcom-worthy bits and makes sure that at least one character comments on the fact that they're making a joke (literally every bit of 'humour' in this book goes commented on; it's like he's paranoid people will think he's not trying hard enough or something). His protagonists always profess an unnecessary ignorance that seems to serve no purpose except to mask his own laziness/refusal to do research, such as his narrator saying "She wore pumps, or whatever you call those kinds of shoes." A nice adventurous story of Polar Bear and Penguins and friendship which grew between them with a wrong turn. Illustrations are beautiful and colourful. Beddington Park - One-Day Intensive Nordic Walking Taster/Technique Training Course Beddington ParkThese sessions also sometimes incorporate exercises designed to improve balance, strength, mobility and general fitness. All my life I have been an impassioned advocate of technology. I believed it could connect the whole world, which it has largely done. What I and many others failed to see, was how those connections would then be used to divide and polarise us - for commercial and political gain. This is endangering our social institutions and democracy on which our dreams were based. It turns our own lives and sometimes, families, to the poles - into warzones. This is a pivotal moment for this book to be written, read and understood. Peter Gabriel, musician Some idiot penguins end up in the North Pole and meet a polar bear. They get lost on their way to a picnic. The bear wants to go to the South Pole. Then all these idiots try to find the South Pole, wandering through various other parts of the world. This session is for trained Nordic Walkers who wish to get out and practice/develop their Nordic Walking Technique and improve their fitness levels, whilst working at a pace appropriate for them. The penguins are little idiots. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be funny, but I found it annoying.
