About this deal

The nimble portability of the power bank and charging capabilities make this charger one of the most reliable power banks on the market. Capacity:Think of capacity as the energy reservoir of your power bank. The higher the mAh (milliampere-hour), the more power it can store. So, choose a power bank with a capacity that suits your charging needs and can juice up multiple devices. The power button is depressed into the power bank enough that it won’t fall out. We even did a press test with a few hundred presses and the power button still functioned the same way as it should.

That’s why the PowerCore 5000 is a step in the right direction because it increases its power capabilities such as capacity and charging speed while still providing a great portable experience. The power bank is perfect for taking nearly anywhere and a power capacity that can be relied on for few charges for a smartphone. A charging speed that is nearly as fast as a wall charger. If you’re using a wall charger that has an Output of 5V/1A, then the power bank will recharge at that speed. This is whywe recommend using a wall charger that has an Output of 5V/2.4A to ensure that you’re getting the fastest recharge speed to your power bank. On a full charge, you can get up to 2 full charges (depending on the device) with this Anker Portable Charger.

The PowerCore 5000 is a Mini power bank that is opening new doors to the small-sized portable charger category. If you know about the PowerCore+Mini or if you’ve read our post about What’s the Best Capacity for a Power Bank, then you know that Mini power banks hold a lot of capabilities when it comes to power capacity and charging speed. The PowerCore 5000 has the standard safety tech features that prevent the power bank from heating up and causing damage to itself and to the device you’re charging. However, as small as the power bank is, it’s still bigger than Anker’s premiere PowerCore+ Mini and other small power banks like the Tylt 3,200 power bank. One of the negatives of the Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless is the fact that wireless charging is limited at 5W output. This is a limitation that pretty much applies to all third-party accessories, though, so it can't be helped. Until Apple allows third-party accessory makers to get the fastest possible wireless charging, it's just something that we'll have to endure. But for what it's worth, even though 5W is a bit slow, it definitely tops off your device, and it's convenient since you don't need a cable.

The PowerCore 5000 power bank holds a strong grip that won’t easily slip from your hand, and it’s a great design choice for a power bank that is meant to be held in the hands most of the time. For example, if you’re out playing Pokemon GO, then this power bank is ideal. The magnetic wireless charging output of the Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless is limited at 5W. This is just the nature of wireless charging in general with most third-party accessories, unfortunately. Still, it's fine for topping off your device to make it last to the end of the day, honestly. I took this particular battery with me to Disneyland a few weeks ago, and it ensured I had enough juice to get through the full day. However, if you want to use this to charge a non-MagSafe device, you still can — it can work as a regular wireless charger, albeit very slow and not recommended, or you can use the USB-C port for 10W output. The PowerCore 5000 follows the same distinct design that other Mini power banks follow. The power bank has a cylindrical shape with a length of 4 inches and a width of 1 inch. The PowerCore builds upon what a power bank should have pertaining to its power. The Mini power bank brings a 5,000mAh capacity to the table. The power button is a rarely used, though. When you connect a device to the PowerCore 5000, the power bank automatically begins charging so there’s no need to press the power button. Once it is on your iPhone 12, the magnetic hold is fairly strong and requires a bit of force to take off. For context, this device can fully charge a DJI Mavic Air 2, an iPhone 13 Pro, a GoPro Hero 10 and a Sony a7 IV camera at the same time, twice. It’s not cheap, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more robust power bank with so many outlets in this kind of form factor.
