Father God we praise you for your absolute goodness, perfection, and holiness. We thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, who was tempted in every way as we are and yet did not sin. We confess that in our weakness, we have shamefully enjoyed sins of the mind and body that we ought to have resisted. Please forgive us for our unholy failures. Teach us to truly mourn our offenses against you and lead us by the Holy Spirit into faithful repentance. We are grateful for the overwhelming grace that we continue to experience each day because of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Thank you for giving us the power of the Holy Spirit to face future temptations. Continue to sanctify us in our frail bodies as we eagerly await the return of your glorified Son. In a world full of darkness, make us your holy lights and gospel witnesses this week. It is the name of Jesus Christ and for his sake that we pray, Amen. Genesis 39:13-23 I chose prayers we can easily adapt for prayer, and thus had to pass up on many great prayers from the Psalms and from people like Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Ezra, Nehemiah, and others.

Genesis 37:1-11There are many prayers in the Bible made by Paul that we can learn from. Paul truly chased after God’s heart and everywhere he went, he preached about God. He also helped pioneer the church in Ephesus and had not seen them in years. Hence, he wrote a letter containing his prayer for wisdom for the Ephesians, asking God to bless them with the Spirit of wisdom that leads to spiritual growth. Two things I ask of you; deny them not to me before I die: Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. Father God we praise you for your perfect righteousness. There is no fairer nor more merciful a judge than you, and we confess that we do not deserve your forgiveness for the sins we’ve committed. Though we have wronged you, betrayed you, and hated you in so many ways, we thank you for the unbelievable gift of freedom from the power of sin in our lives. Help us to always remember the cost of our freedom and to never forget how Jesus has dealt with our sins at the cross. Help us to also grow in our awareness of the sins that taint our lives so that we would learn to hate our sins like you do. Shine the light of your Holy Spirit into the dark places of our hearts so that we might better know and repent of our sins for your glory. Thank you so much for reconciling us through the gospel to make us your righteous servants. Use us to proclaim your good news boldly to others this week. Luke 2:8-20 We pray the Prayer of Jabez in Jesus’s name when we pray it not according to our fleshly desires, but rather for His purposes and glory. Like all prayer, God won’t always answer in the way we want. We often think of blessing as the addition of material goods, whereas God may bless us by subtracting material goods to add more of Himself, the greatest blessing (Philippians 4:11–13).

Jesus taught his disciples how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. It is a simple but one of the most powerful prayers in the Bible that we know best as the Lord’s Prayer. The Lord’s Prayer covers all the different types of prayer that we have seen. From our petitions to confession and forgiveness, to deliverance and glory, everything is in the Lord’s Prayer. Kings 3: 5-10 At Gibeon, the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” 6 Solomon answered, “You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. He wholeheartedly cried out to God with boldness and vulnerability and requested that ‘ [God’s] hand be with [me]’ . When we ask for the ‘hand of the Lord’, what we are asking and seeking is God’s presence and protection in our lives. A Heart To Invest In God’s Kingdom Paul’s] prayer is like a staircase by which he ascends higher and higher in his aspiration for them… [It] has four steps whose keywords are ‘ strength’ (that they might be strengthened by Christ’s indwelling through the Spirit), secondly ‘ love’ (that they might be rooted and grounded in love), thirdly ‘ knowledge’ (that they might know Christ’s love in all its dimensions, although it is beyond knowledge), and fourthly ‘ fullness’ (that they might be filled up to the very fullness of God).” 2 The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

We may know Daniel as the person who found favor in God’s eyes and was protected after being thrown into the lion’s den. But, his powerful prayers in the bible are also commendable and one that we should all practice as well. Here, he prayed a prayer for forgiveness , confessing the sins of his people on their behalf. Father God, we praise you for making us new creations in Christ! We are grateful for the good news that you do not regard us by our flesh. We are thankful that unlike us, you know and judge us rightly by our hearts. We are sorry for the ways that we have let our shallow, worldly judgments of others become barriers to our proclamation of your gospel. Thank you for overcoming our weakness and partiality to bring life to our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Please help us to see people more like you do so that we would grow in our boldness to share the gospel with others. Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. (verses 4–5) Praying Psalm 23, one of the most believed portions of Scripture, will comfort your heart and instill confidence in our Good Shepherd as you meditate on His gracious dealings in every area of your life. You might consider memorizing Psalm 23 for your prayer life or for bringing the comfort of God to others in need. Ask in God’s name for the things that we need such as strength, guidance, and wisdom to overcome whatever circumstance we might be facing. Prayer of Confession and Forgiveness

Matthew 6:6 - But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. We can always come to God and seek His wisdom when we face challenges or conflicts that are above us. But instead of asking God for solutions, we should ask God for wisdom as Paul did in verse 17, that God so freely gives to us through the Holy Spirit. So that we can know God better. In doing so, we can comprehend God’s character and have a breakthrough to understand how God wants us to resolve certain conflicts or overcome situations. We can be taught about God, but unless we ask for wisdom from the Holy Spirit, we can never truly know God. Pray For A Hope That Embraces The Future
