Your Dell S3423DWC monitor has a built-in diagnostic tool. It helps to determine if the screen abnormality you are experiencing is a problem with the monitor or with the video card on your computer. When you notice screen abnormalities like distortion, clarity, horizontal or vertical lines, color fade, it is always a good practice to isolate the monitor by running the Built-In Diagnostics. Hard drive retention: Hard drive retention is not available on models with a soldered hard drive, including XPS 9315 2in1, Chromebooks or Venue tablets, except the Venue 11 Pro. Change the color-setting mode in the Color Settings On-Screen Display Menu (OSD) to Graphics or Video, depending on the application. CompleteCover: Service is available for personal computers, Axim PDAs, Dell branded projectors and LCD TV. CompleteCover excludes theft, loss, and damage due to fire, intentional damage, acts of God or natural disasters, animals, pets or pests. Customer may be required to return unit to Dell. Dell S3423DWC monitor uses a curved IPS panel, the corners of the screen may appear slight yellowish or pinkish, especially when viewing in dark room. This is normal IPS panel behavior and typically does not affect the overall viewing performance.
I tested the Dell S3423DWC's luminance (brightness per unit area), contrast ratio, and color accuracy using our standard test gear: a Klein Instruments K-10A colorimeter, a Murideo SIX-G signal generator, and Portrait Displays' CalMAN 5 calibration software. Calibrating it reduced its deltaE average to 0.98 which is better if you want to use it for color-critical work. The downside is the additional cost of a colorimeter which you need to accept if that level of improvement. The investment will only become practical if you will use the monitor for making money, but otherwise, you’ll be fine with the default setting.
Some USB devices like external portable HDD require higher electric current; connect the device directly to the computer. It is not the brand’s most accurate ultrawide, but its deltaE average of 2.64 is already acceptable unless you are editing or creating content. We feel that most users will be happy with it after a few basic tweaks like adjusting the brightness.
