The Smok Novo 2 pod vape kit is a refillable pod kit intended for users of all experiences. Another minor gripe I have with the design is the LED light which is located just beneath the airflow control. The pods can last forever as long as they break. This is because they are refillable, and the coils are replaceable. Novo devices have always been good MTL devices and the Novo 4 is no different. Judging from the latest iterations, it looks like Smok has designated the Nords as their DL pod vapes and the Novos as their MTL pod vapes. I didn’t think that the Novo X was worth upgrading for if you already owned the Novo 3, but the airflow adjustment on the Novo 4 does seem like it’s worth the upgrade. The Novo 4 gets you everything that was good on previous Novo devices (flavor, reliability, portability), but with the added ability of adjusting your draw to your liking. Mouth to lung vapers will like what it has to offer. Overall Smok did a good job with the Novo 4. There are no other features for the device other than the automatic power (smart coil detection) setting based on the resistance of the coil connected. It has a power range of 4 to 25W.

I recently reviewed the Smok Pozz Pro, which is a more advanced pod system, and one that I claimed was probably Smok’s best. However, on reflection, I have to say the Novo 4 Mini delivers a better MTL experience, especially if you like a tight MTL draw. To prevent leaking, these coils are fitted with 3 silicone o rings; 1 where the coil meets the hole that you draw from, 1 where the coil meets the bottom of the inside of the pod, and 1 where the coil meets the outside bottom of the pod. This setup seems to do a good job because even after 2 weeks of using the same coil I did not have any ejuice leak out from the pod. The battery section is pretty solid. It has a long and curved shape, and it feels very sturdy. It should be able to withstand some moderate bangs and pumps. Just do not throw it around like it is one of those mods that looks like a football and can be treated like one.Sadly, I didn’t have any other LP1 coils to hand to see how they performed in the Novo 4 Mini. Hopefully, they do a good job, and may even offer slightly more variation and perhaps a better DTL performance. That said there’s nothing majorly wrong with the build quality, and at an affordable price, most will be happy with the quality that Smok delivers. This dial is similar to the one on the Nord 4, but there are a few changes that make it more MTL oriented. Smok’s quality can be all over the place but the Novo 4 is very well built. If you’ve read my Novo X review, you’ll see that I had some issues with the panels creaking and moving slightly which was extremely disappointing. My Novo 4 has none of these issues and feels very solid and well made. This pod mod uses an 800 mah integrated battery. That might seem a bit small to some people, but for a 25 watt device, that is not too bad. Besides, the coils are meant to be vaped well under 25 watts, so 800 mah is where it needs to be. Expect the battery to last 12 to 14 hours, depending on the settings and frequency of use. For the first time, a Novo device does not use replaceable pods with built in coils. Instead for the Novo 4 it uses a 2ml pod that takes removable and replaceable coils. In the box you get one LP1 0.8Ω mesh coil that is best at 12W and one 0.8Ω LP1 DC coil that is also rated for 12-25W.

Since it uses 0.8 ohm coils, the best juice to use is 20 mg salt nicotine with a 50/50 vegetable glycerin to propylene glycol mix. But the 0.8 ohm coils are not the only ones in that series. There is also a 1.0 ohm coil that works well with liquids with higher nicotine concentrations. Vapor Production That’s really where the Novo 4 Mini shines best in my opinion, as a compact easy-to-use MTL device that delivers good flavor. One big change from previous Novo devices is that instead of pods with the coils built in, the Novo 4 uses replaceable coils. Where the Nord 4 went in the direction of catering to direct lung vapers, the Novo 4 seems like a MTL oriented kit. There is not much leaking on this device, and the connection is pretty solid. It is not a magnetic connection, though. The pod connects to the battery via a small bump on the pod that connects to recesses inside the battery connection. That is a little odd because most pod mods have a magnetic connection. But it works, and that is the most important thing. When it comes to e-liquid, we recommend using either a 50/50 or high PG e-liquid, with the pod and coil supporting both freebase and nic salt blends equally well. Simple to refill, each features a side filling port which when secured creates a tight seal that stops leaks from occurring.

The airflow is exactly what I’m looking for in a MTL pod vape. It’s a loose MTL draw when fully open but it can be turned down to a tight MTL draw by closing down the airflow dial. With some nicotine salts the draw is very, very good. The Smok Novo 4 replacement pods can hold 2ml of e-liquid and are compatible with the Smok Novo 4 pod kit. Designed for MTL (Mouth To Lung) vaping, these pods should be paired with the Smok LP1 coils (available separately). Each clear pod is crafted from hardwearing plastic that’s also clear, allowing you to keep an eye on how much e-liquid you have left. Option 1: LP1 Meshed 0.8ohm Coil: Enjoy larger vapour and smoother, softer e-juice flavour - thanks to a wider heating area with the mesh coil design. Works best at 12W.The pod is a tinted plastic, but it’s clear enough to see your juice levels through. However as the pod sits quite low into the device, it’s hard to see when your juice levels are low unless you tip the device or remove the pod. With the airflow open you get a tight MTL draw that is really nice at any wattage as it’s warm but not hot. Closing down the airflow makes the vapor much hotter and I found it most enjoyable to turn down the wattage when vaping with the airflow like this. No matter how you set it, if you’re a MTL vaper, you’re going to like the draw. The coils have 2 flat sides that match up with the bottom of the pod. This means that the coil only goes in a certain way so make sure that you insert it properly.
