About this deal

At a high point in his career, Artie Lange performed a sold-out show in Carnegie Hall-and he did it with a pocketful of heroin. I wish he’d covered why BPD is now considered a pejorative term (outdated and often catch all for people who have had trauma, they often don’t get well or the help they need because they’re judged as narcissistic, unstable/unable to get better, it’s not a coincidence that most people with BPD are AFAB); I don’t love that he talks about going off all medication…meds saved my life and through most of my 30s I didn’t want to be on them…I fear his story will encourage people to do the same. That still doesn't stop the way Autumn feels every time she and Finn cross paths, and the growing, nagging thought that maybe things could have been different.

One of the most important thing he does for us through his book, is normalize talking about suicide, a topic so taboo that those struggling with suicidal ideations often don’t seek help because of it. If you're a man of a certain age you'll know there comes a point in life when getting a sports car and over-analysing your contribution to society sounds like a really good idea. When it was finally published, the essay went viral, shared on social media by Anne Lamott, Rebecca Solnit, and many others. As the 29-year old accountant, wife, and mother of young children would soon discover, it was the diagnosis that finally explained her explosive anger, manipulative behaviors, and self-destructive episodes- including bouts of anorexia, substance abuse, and sexual promiscuity.Joes story is far from pretty and very heartbreaking at times and the reason behind him writing this book is one of pure honestly. Most importantly, it’s funny – I’m not a one for ‘misery memoirs’ – and laughter is the best medicine etc. With a strength and force of will that most can only imagine, Saks reclaimed her life and went on to achieve great success. Joe Tracini has a fairly brilliant way of storytelling and sharing a conversation about mental health. Subsequent second and third series followed, where Tracini continued to gain plaudits for his outlandish performances, however in 2011 the decision was made to axe the show.

He lives in my head and it’s difficult to explain the symptoms, so I got him out to show you xx pic. In 2003, he received the title of ‘British Junior Magical Champion’ which he won at the Blackpool Opera House in front of 3,000 international magicians. I don't owe Joe Tracini my life, but I do owe him for the silly joy of his captivatingly cringy dance videos in lockdown.

I feel like the weight I carry can occasionally be lifted just by talking about certain things I was to afraid to prior. An extraordinary, heartbreaking and hilarious memoir from comedian, actor and mental health activist Joe Tracini, on how to live your life with a voice in your head that tells you to kill yourself every day. At the same time he also won the title of ‘Most Promising Comedy Act of 2003’, chosen and presented by Ken Dodd, as well as coming third in The Magic Circle's 'Young Magician Of The Year' competition.

He's starred in many TV shows including Hollyoaks, Coming of Age and The Great Outdoors, and he's the host of the BAFTA winning 'The Dengineers'. Tracini was also very open and honest about his mental health during this time too and regularly posted videos about his struggles. James Hetfield, with whom many years ago Mustaine founded a band known as Metallica, once observed, with some incredulity, that Mustaine must have been born with a horseshoe up his ass. Most people with BPD are undiagnosed as it takes a pretty serious crash to sit up and think: hey, something’s not quite right here. An intimate, funny and frank account of the moments behind the music, of the truth behind the headlines and of the fascinatingly complicated man behind the imperious entertainer, Reveal is Robbie Williams as you've never seen him before.

Trying to fix my broken brain by writing a gratitude list is like trying to remove a tumour with a fucking spoon. He tries to explain what your life is like when you essentially have a brain that's trying to kill you every day. It is fantastic to know that Joe has overcome some of the things he has, and no doubt this book will help many people. But if there is even the smallest chance that me telling you how I live with me helps you live with you; if it opens up a space for someone, somewhere to be more honest about their mental illness, it will have been worth it.

Then I discovered, along with so many others, that Joe has struggled with BPD and that lead to struggles with substance abuse and suicidal thoughts. The thing that I think I liked most (if that’s that right word to use) is making people see that just because you’ve been fixed once, it’s okay to break against, it’s not a once fixed always fixed kind of illness.
