Midthunder rises to the challenge of a juicy lead vehicle, and frequently holds her own alone, enjoying a number of innovative, frequently subtle, throwback nods to the first classic Predator entry (the swamp sequence is superbly shot) and even the second (the musket), whilst lions and bears provide fearsome threats that are respectfully handled with pretty competent effects work.

Led by Major “Dutch” Schaeffer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) under CIA supervision (provided by Carl Weathers), their mission is simple – slip into the dense jungle, free the hostages and get out quick. There’s not a huge amount of connectivity here, but the reality is there’s very little that can actually drive the display anyway.We hope you enjoy our growing collection of HD images to use as a background or home screen for your smartphone or computer. It's an exceptional film that persevered through some of the toughest shooting conditions on and behind the camera.

Yet a fabulously atmospheric poster and a couple of decent trailers later and here we are, with audiences facing what may well be remembered, depending on your fondness for Predator 2, as one of the best - if not the best - Predator sequels in the last thirty-five years. Schwarzenegger's takedown of an intergalactic hunter remains one of the best sci-fi/action/horror mashups to ever reach movie screens. This is a 27-inch gaming monitor that supports all of the video capabilities of the PlayStation 5 and even includes a matching color scheme. We’re talking a full 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, HDR 10 standard, 10-bit quantum dot IPS panel, 384-zone local dimming, and a super snappy 4ms G2G response time. As she joins a group lead by her brother set on taking down a mountain lion, they soon come across a creature more dangerous than they've encountered before.

I got to see a near-pristine 35mm archival print in the early 2000s and this appearance is pretty accurate to how I remembered that screening. Not only does the 240Hz refresh rate put the Odyssey Neo G8 on a higher plane than its counterparts, but Samsung has infused the monitor with a 32-inch 1000R VA panel and Mini-LED lighting with 1,196 dimming zones. What is left is something of an enigma: high on action but low in everything else that is required to make a film work, namely dialogue, characters and a clear narrative. The source is grainy and dirty, as ever it was; no doubt it won’t appeal to grain haters, but to purists this is how Predator should always have looked, and to my eye it is amazing! It performed admirably against other 144 Hz screens in our response time and input lag tests, even besting some, including the HP Omen on this page, in the latter.

We haven't gotten to check out the 4K streaming version, but the HD Digital Copy does not appear to use the same DNR-slathered master provided for the Ultimate Hunter Edition release from 2010. The overhead channels are used to good effect, if you like ducking under weapon fire or helicopters, the opening space fight is a delight, especially the opening of the rift, but subtler effects, such as weather or rustling of leaves in the jungle or the idle of a diesel engine on the bus are nice touches.

Prey marks the first Predator movie made and released since Disney bought Fox and the first entry in the series since the underperformance of 2018's The Predator. Well, we've recently looked at a couple of other 4K monitors that, while they don't quite make our best 4K gaming monitor list, are still worth considering. And while not strictly a gaming screen, Asus' ProArt PA32UCG delivers a phenomenal, accurate image, excellent HDR (thanks to a Full-Array Mini-LED backlight and 1700-nit peak brightness) and 144 Hz refresh over its DisplayPort.
