About this deal

The Canon EOS 77D boasts the complexity of a 45-point auto focus system and great Live View AF performance with it. APS-C CMOS sensor, which utilises Canon’s on-chip analogue-to-digital conversion technology, as seen on the likes of the distinctly more grown up EOS 5D Mark IV. The Live View and Video mode AF system is also good on the Canon EOS 80D, being both smooth yet swift enough to capture rapidly moving subjects.

Note that these photos are taken from our earlier Nikon D7500 review and are less drastic crops than the images earlier in this article. What a clean and cool video with no attempts at being artificially funny or on an overdose of caffeine. Now that Canon’s 90D has been released, I wanted to see how it stacks up versus the earlier 80D DSLR.For Live View and video recording, the DSLR uses its maker’s Dual Pixel AF technology across 80% of the frame, again delivering snappy focusing even when tracking moderately fast moving subjects. I do not know what kind of a video you might have made with a camera od another make with 4K and better shadow detail (DR). In this article we'll break down what separates the T7i, 77D and the existing EOS 80D – and which is the best one for your needs. Nikon's latest Z-mount lens is a 600mm you can handhold for hours for wildlife and sports photography or pack away for travel when you want to leave the monopod and tripod at home.

It does however provide a handy and swift point of reference for those glancing at key shooting settings. Kevin, the shutter activation limits has been adjusted to reflect real world conditions, whereas, at the release of a new product, some specifications are hypothetical.

Once again, on the EOS 80D we get bog standard Full HD video rather than a more exciting and up-to-date 4K resolution. The 90D’s newer sensor, joystick, faster frame rate, and 4K video are certainly worth the difference in cost. I don't need/ like mirrorless as it's mostly stationary in-house work so the weight/ size difference is not important. For video work these days (and even stills with the live view) I'd go Canon for the amazing dual pixel autofocus, but that's the only reason.

So Canon really, why not class leading 2kHD if no 4kHD , afterall you started the whole DSLR video craze !He is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts, holds a Foundation Degree in Equitation Science and is a Master of Arts in Publishing. Here is a comparison between the Nikon D7500 (left) and the Canon 80D (right) at ISO values from 800 to 6400. There’s also the option to adjust exposure settings, fire the camera remotely, and transfer full resolution JPEGs and MP4 movies to smart devices using Canon’s free Camera Connect app. The EOS 77D does a lot of things well, with good image quality, and a Live View performance that is one of the best we’ve seen on a DSLR to date. By contrast the Canon EOS 80D is powered by a larger LP-E6N lithium ion rechargeable battery which can provide a much more semi professional standard 960 shots from a full charge if operating at room temperature.

Along with the announcement of the 80D, Canon announced the DM-E1 shotgun microphone (compatible with any camera that has a 1/8" socket). Good for: Any enthusiast seeking a camera that can handle both still and video capture with great ease.If you want a bag that doesn't look like a camera bag or prefer to make your own DIY solutions, they're worth a look. As a belt and braces approach, the 77D also features Canon’s DIGIC 7 processor with a native ISO range of 100-25,600 that can be extended to ISO 51,200 equivalent. It’s not that they are bad by any means, but that the 80D’s generation does bring an image quality boost.
