About this deal

Naylor rep pointed out, in several decades, there has not been a single problem definitively linked back to the use of Blu-Kote in poultry. Unfortunately poultry are attracted to blood and so the slightest fresh wound that bleeds can lead to cannibalistic behaviour, where the tearing and consuming of tissue, skin and organs can take place. This behaviour can range from feather pecking to a more extreme bullying where the victim can suffer injuries. Be sure to wear a dust mask and gloves when working with diatomaceous earth because it’s extremely drying and like any fine particle when it becomes airborne, it can negatively affect your respiratory system. Since chickens are more attracted to the red color, the blue coloring will help to prevent pecking at the wound by other chickens in the flock.

Chicken Vet Anti-Peck

If you are treating some superficial scratches or minor feather picking, you can use Blu-Kote for chickens or any other similar product to aid in healing. All of these symptoms are bad news for the health of your hens so you have to be vigilant and act fast if lice and mites show up. Chickens are attracted to the color red, Blu-Kote is purple, thus, it will keep pecking chickens at bay. This changes the yellow udder cream to a dark gray/purple/black color, which covers up the wound and hides any red blood that sends the other chickens into a pecking frenzy. It also contains whole grains, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and oyster shell to provide nutrients that contribute to the hen’s well-being. I am still spraying every 3 - 4 days in addition to burying food in their run to keep them occupied, as a just in case. Another factor that can cause birds to become stressed and start pecking at each other is a change in environment, this change can happen within their pen or in the house.
