About this deal

listening room with our wireless headphones on, that it struck us: this is all we need now for a fully-fledged vinyl system, and there aren’t even any wires.

A closer inspection under the platter reveals the auto mechanism, and they are identical on both models. If you set the switch to PHONO, you will need to use the PHONO input on a receiver or powered speakers with a preamp built-in. An update of the popular AT-LP60, the ATLP60X features a redesigned tonearm base and headshell to improve tracking and reduce resonance. Featuring a USB output, the Audio Technica AT-LP60XUSB not only makes a quality player but also a great deck from which to archive your vinyl to computer.Registered Office: 4th - 6th floor Wellington Buildings, 2-4 Wellington Street, Belfast, BT1 6HT (Northern Ireland - company number NI032565). You would do this if you were not only going to use a different input—say the TAPE or CD input—on the back of your amp, but you’d also be able to connect the AT-LP60X directly to your powered speakers or sound bar, for example.

I have spent a lot of time testing the sound of my AT-LP60XBT and compared it against my more expensive audiophile turntable. One thing that I think is impressive about the AT-LP60X, just as it was with the AT-LP60, is that this record player comes with a built-in phono preamp. b>

Vinyl playback – wirelessly

Bluetooth connectivity lets you connect up to your choice of Bluetooth speaker or Bluetooth-equipped hi-fi, wirelessly.

These type of redesigns often are done to improve better tracking of the stylus in the groove, as well as remove unwanted vibrations that can negatively color the sound. If you have the AT-LP60XBT and want to play music wirelessly with Bluetooth, let’s say to wireless headphones, then you first have to set both devices in pairing mode so that find each other. Of course I've heard turntable setups that sound just as insightful and detailed as a hi-res file, but they're not cheap.

We've always preferred removable turntable cables because you can swap out worn cables, or upgrade to a higher quality cable. If you wonder why I have removed the dustcover in all the pictures, that is because turntables sound better with the dustcover off. This affordable, easy-to-use turntable plays both 33-1/3 and 45 RPM records and, with its built-in switchable phono preamp, can be connected directly to your home stereo, powered speakers, computer and other components, whether they have a dedicated phono input or not. The AT-LP60XUSB plays both 33-1/3 and 45 RPM records and is equipped with a USB output that allows direct connection to your computer.Improved tracking and reduced resonance also help reduce distortion, for a smoother, more natural sound. Currently, there isn’t a model that includes all the features, so you have to select which options that are most important for you. On the LP60, the dustcover came down onto the turntable and meet the record player’s edges with little room for margin.

No deposit required up front, pay the balance in full before the end of the 6-month period and there is no interest to pay whatsoever. With a Cambridge Audio Duo connected, the bass firmed up and the upper registers came into a clearer focus. Connected with decent powered speakers, it can form a vinyl setup that sounds excellent for the money. That said, the AT-LP60X is still an entry-level turntable, and it won’t sound as good as audiophile turntables. But the LP60X is a more refined machine, and I think that (just purely from an aesthetics point of view) it looks better on a table or cabinet than the LP-60 did.You can press the tonearm lift button to keep it suspended at the start of a song, if want to do some backyard DJing for example, and then press it again to play. Again, not a major deal, but it’s worth nothing that those graphics used to be on the front panel of the AT-60. The Audio-Technica, on the other hand, really shone with a more expensive system where the bass in particular was able to stretch out. The main issue with the Victrola, by the way, wasn't the sound or its solid features (Bluetooth, headphone out, onboard speaker), but that it was easy to damage the record with the lid attached.
