About this deal

A funny and tender picture book… visual surprises and pleasures abound in this cathartic delight for children. The main character is Barnabus half mouse and half elephant and he is just adorable who dreams about seeing the stars and the outside world. It is a stunning book and readers will be going back to it time and time again to marvel at the artwork. S., and Macmillan Children's Books UK, acquired world rights to the book, excluding North American English and Canadian French. In a world were only perfect pets are what people want, not-so-perfect pets like Barnabus are not tolerated, and are considered Failed Attempts, destined for recycling.

Barnabus is an entirely fictional character, yet one feels attached to him and concerned for his welfare… The Barnabus Project is a book with wide appeal. With intricate graphite illustrations, the Fan brothers deliver a lovely story about how the creatures in a garden react when an unknown marble-like object falls from the sky. The pictures in this book are magical, and the story emphasizes the importance of following your dreams, trusting your friends, and realizing that you don't have to be perfect to be happy. The end, however not bad, is a bit less dreamlike than the rest of the book and may therefore feel a bit out of tone to some people. This resources will encourage and support pupils to explore unknown vocabulary, classify tiered vocabulary independently, explore the wider application of newly acquired vocabulary and enhance classroom vocabulary display which ultimately leads to improved retention. The positive emotions come mainly in the second half but the end still leaves a bit of sadness and many unanswered questions.

Barnabus dreams of the world above the laboratory, a world of lakes and trees and mountains, that he has heard about thanks to Pip the cockroach. I'd highly recommend The Barnabus Project for fans of stunning artwork and for people looking for a picture book with a really heartfelt message that's very important. From the imagination of two acclaimed picture book creators, together for the first time, this dreamlike picture book is a magical ode to Victorian lunch wagons. But as we got older we realized that the real superheroes in life are just ordinary people doing amazing things and things to make the world a better place.Part adventure, part parable, and totally evocative work of art, the Fan Brothers’ new book is unforgettable in its originality”. One day the green suits come down and slap a 'fail' stamp on the bell jar, which means Barnabus and his pals will be recycled. By providing a contextual explanation rather than just a standard definition, we can better help children understand the stories we are sharing with them and widen their vocabulary. The limited use of color—buttery yellow, cornflower blue, sherbet green—lends extra magic to the finely lined pencil drawings, especially where a faint rainbow glistens in the cloud’s mist. When a cockroach tells Barnabus of the stars and rivers and other beauties of nature, Barnabus decides to escape.

It's a wee bit dark, Barnabus is the creation of some scary creatures in Green Rubber Suits, but he has dreams, and a fierce loyalty towards his friends. Marco’s discovery that the world is full of questions, but not always answers, is at once profound and entirely accessible to young audiences. This subtle, whimsical reflection on the caretaker relationship provides many openings for discussing growth and letting go.Pip the cockroach tells Barnabus about the beauty of the world above and he dreams of what it would be like to be out there. I can see opportunities to develop reading for meaning and a variety of writing outcomes stemming from it.

The idea that a famous astronaut was once afraid of the dark may win some recalcitrant bed-goers’ hearts, and readers with dreams of space travel will jump at this. The text and illustrations mesh wonderfully to convey the drama of the escape and the critical roles teamwork and friendship play in the animals’ success. Anne Crewdson at the International Examiner expresses, “The storyline is like blades ever-turning and a twist on a timeless tale which remains fresh. He was lost, without a home town, a support network or structure to his life unable to recognise or begin to address his mental health issues, Daniel was living a chaotic and transient life drifting between cities. Born in Hawaii and raised in Toronto, he attended the Ontario College of Art and Design, where he studied illustration, sculpture, and film. And although the mysterious night gardener disappears as suddenly as he appeared, William - and his town- are changed forever. Barnabus is half mouse and half elephant, but he is a failed project and as a result lives in a bell jar where he is trapped. With his little trunk and a lot of cooperation and courage, Barnabus sets out to find freedom - and a place where he and his friends can finally be accepted for who they are. This endearing picture book, with graphite and digital illustrations, will rouse justice-minded children to action with its reminders of the important things in life.
