When you have Automatic Ear Detection on and you're not wearing your earbuds, audio plays through your device's speakers. On my commute to work, they did an excellent job of attenuating the rumble of the train and the hum of the air conditioning units to the point I almost forgot I was on a busy train. While some minor bits of the earbuds are repairable, they scored a zero out of 10 on iFixit’s repairability scale. It easily slides into a pocket and its smooth exterior feels great to hold, just don’t let it slip out onto the sidewalk or floor as it might pick up a few scratches.
