Refreshing Worn Wood with Briwax - In Between Chaos Refreshing Worn Wood with Briwax - In Between Chaos

We got it at Lowe’s, and I know that it was a darker grey and wasn’t one of the ones that leaned towards greige, more of a cooler gray if that helps! I would really like to try this, but I am not sure how to change out my existing hardware without leaving holes. I found it easy to use a little extra and then just wipe off rather than trying to spread too little around. If you apply the Wood Dye to your wood first, you can add more or different colours until you are happy with the colour, and then seal the colour with Oil afterwards. In between the chaos of being a scatterbrained mom of 3 and a real estate investor, I love trying new things with my saw, paint brush, camera… I’m a Jane of all trades but master of none. I have been going back and forth on whether to paint my kitchen cabinets white or make those honey oak cabinets more rustic looking. I actually had better luck where the finish was more worn, so it may be just what your cabinets need. Applying new wax will remove the old wax and replace it with a new coat, which should remove the watermarks.

The first coat uses around half of the oil, and the subsequent coats are much thinner, because the wood has been sealed by the first coat. We always recommend removing the existing finish completely first (by sanding or stripping), as the underlying problems inherent with polyurethane finishes (yellowing and cracking) will still happen over time, and will cause the entire coating to degenerate. Once you've finished your furniture with Danish Oil, you can create a deeper sheen on surfaces that aren't likely to get wet by applying a coat of clear Briwax Original Wax over the top. The penetrating finish dries to a gloss finish within a couple of days without leaving a surface film to chip or scratch. If you have knobs on your doors and are trying to add pulls, maybe try to use the existing hole as one side? Allow overnight to dry, and sand between coats with fine (240 grit) sandpaper or 0000 grade steel wool in the direction of the grain. However, if you allow the surface to remain wet for a long time, the watermark will get into the wood, and applying more wax won't solve this. There are many copies of Teak Oil, and many alternative oil-based finishes including the traditional linseed and tung oil based products.
