About this deal

There’s The Prince ( Joey King) whose innocent schoolgirl vibe turns heads when she reveals herself to those who doublecross her. And of course, Joey King is always a joy to watch on screen as she changes her chameleon-like emotions with whoever she shares the screen with. Dynamics are excellent, surround usage impressive both at a small and big-scale, with LFE rippling throughout and a suitably punchy, funky score. Bullet Train's 4K Blu-ray also enjoys a rip-roaring Dolby Atmos track that gives it as much aural panache as it has visual style, utilising the 3D object-orientated HD surround sound design to bristle with engulfing energy, sweeping you along for the high speed ride. Johnson and Henry are the true stars of the film though with their budding relationship and volatile personalities.

Prince ends up foiling everyone’s plans but no one really understands what her connection is to anything. Around him, lying in wait in the shadows, are a few characters ready to strike with various bladed weapons. The interview with Jun’ya Satô’s biographers gives a solid overview of the film’s inception, production and legacy, covering plenty of bases. After seeing the teaser for Bullet Train while at the theater earlier this year I was instantly in and decided it would be best viewed in my home theater environment. Some of the flames and lighting look a bit flatter than they would in Dolby Vision or HDR10, but otherwise there is nothing to complain about here.

And the great thing is, that all these elements have congealed together to make this a blast of a viewing experience.

It was delayed a few times, and I will admit that the countless trailers and social media spots somehow rubbed me the wrong way, but it was quite a surprise. The image is pristine and the colors, though lacking the wide color gamut of HDR, still come across with a good bit of candy color ‘pop. Colors are deeply saturated with lustrous vibrancy and succulent textures that literally leap off of the screen. In Bullet Train, Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. Inside this shadowy floor is the film's title (along with Brad Pitt's name), center in yellow color. What I found most refreshing here is that the film is in on the jock, but despite the multiple characters and plot threads, it brings them all together very nicely. Maybe his next project - updating the 80s Fall Guy series, with Ryan Gosling - might be just what everybody was waiting for. The score is also effective, with an often-funky, jazz-inflected style that played very much to my tastes. The neon overhead light makes for some harsh flesh tones (it even gives Brat Pitt the appearance of looking older than he is), but those are few and far between.

Fate, however, may have other plans, as Ladybug's latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe – all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives – on the world's fastest train. richly realized UHD discs on the market today, particularly considering new release, digitally shot films.

Most well-known for inspiring the 1994 Hollywood blockbuster Speed, The Bullet Train is a remarkably tense thriller from director Junya Satō, and Eureka Classics is proud to present it in this definitive edition for its UK debut on Blu-ray.

He and his two accomplices, Masaru Koga (Kei Yamamoto) and Hiroshi Ōshiro (Akira Oda) are all given backstories and reasons for taking such drastic action.

Yes, not every joke lands; not everything hits its target, but still, the shotgun approach is surprisingly effective. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more.
