About this deal

Bury Me at Makeout Creek (stylized in all lowercase [5]) is the third studio album by American indie rock musician Mitski, released through Double Double Whammy on November 11, 2014. The projects, combined with completing her degree while working outside jobs to pay rent, left Mitski exhausted, a state which heavily influenced the creation of the album. I hadn't listened to this full album in a few years, and now that I have I can pretty confidently say it's one of the best of the 2010s. The song "Francis Forever" was covered by Marceline the Vampire Queen in the episode "The Music Hole" from the eighth season of Adventure Time.

Now with a massively successful US tour opening for sweet soul darlings Thee Sacred Souls behind him, 2023 is sure to be a propitious year for Daptone's newest signee. Pitchfork applauded the release as “inventive and resourceful,” while Rolling Stone celebrated her “deep-cutting lyrics. His full length debut on Daptone Records is equal parts raw feeling and elegance and exudes confidence and charm. The lead single of the album, " First Love / Late Spring", was released on May 15, 2014, [10] [11] with Double Double Whammy announcing Mitski joined their label roster and will release a full-length record later that year.Combining bold, memorable melodies, varied and textured music, and emotionally breathtaking lyrics, Psychopomp will be remembered for many decades to come and has an unforgettable place in the heart of anybody who knows it. Two music videos were released for "Townie", the first directed by Allyssa Yohana and premiered on Rookie on November 9, 2014, [14] and the second directed by Faye Orlove and premiered on The Fader on March 9, 2015. We're also excited to premiere "Townie," the rollicking second single from Bury Me at Makeout Creek. However, as college graduation inched closer, Mitski moved away from the concert hall and into the campus’s active DIY scene. Writing for Pitchfork, Ian Cohen said, "though not necessarily nostalgic, the sound of Bury Me at Makeout Creek, the impressive third album from Mitski Miyawaki, is inventive and resourceful in a '90s-indie way," concluding the review saying the album "still sounds like a breakthrough even if nothing's coming up Mitski in these songs.

NME said of the album, “it’s a record that doesn’t tug at your heart-strings as much as it mercilessly pounds at them, taking to your emotions like a lead pipe to a piñata. The person who was handling all of my Mitski vinyl that arrived over the few days must've hated me cuz it's all the same warehouse damages on all three. I will retire to the Salton Sea / At the age of 23 / For I'm starting to learn I may never be free," she confesses in 'Drunk Walk Home,' before screaming into a void of distorted guitars.Recorded at Hive Mind Studios in Brooklyn, NY, with the help of producer/arrangers Mike Buckley and Vincent Chiarito (both members of Charles Bradley's Extraordinaires) and crack team of a-list musicians, his upcoming album blends heavy arrangements and introspective lyrics with sophistication, leaving the listener in a blissful wash of wonderment.

This album can--and should--be revisited in aeternum, and Posing for Cars should be incentive enough to ensure you do. The album was recorded mostly in houses and makeshift studios with a select group of musicians and friends and represented a departure from Mitski's classical training showcased in her orchestral, piano-based first two albums. My copy is nowhere near as blue as the images here, it’s closer to a coke bottle color (although it’s definitely not the coke bottle Newbury variant, as I bought this directly from VMP before the Newbury versions were even put up for sale. But it's Mitski's talent for penning deep-cutting lyrics that makes this album soar: "If your hands need to break more than trinkets in your room / You can lean on my arm as you break my heart.

Either the production drowns out her voice or the opposite, but on vinyl, I hear both clearly which is great. I was so young when I behaved 25,” Mitski sings on ‘First Love / Late Spring’, “yet now I find I’ve grown into a tall child. Just got my copy, there's a bit of background noise on the first few tracks but no outright crackles or pops and there is a possibility that it just needs a good clean. Mitski Talks About Her Breakout Album, Bury Me at Makeout Creek, Her First Seattle Show (Sat June 27), and More".

Upon relocating to New York following graduation, she entered stages at Death By Audio, Silent Barn and Bed Stuy basements, entrenching her songs of love, fear, lust and brilliant clarity into entirely sympathetic ears. This veritable thesis speaks to sentiments of the poetry and beauty of struggling up the hill to adulthood.
