About this deal

This is an improved version of the Hybrid CMOS AF II system found in the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 / EOS 100D, having a greater number of focusing pixels arranged in a more regular array than in the past. It’s particularly effective and no alarming or off-putting autofocus noises were traced in video footage. It has just the single manual control wheel up on the top plate, and a very easy-to-reach mode dial. As before, there are dedicated buttons for drive mode, ISO speed, exposure compensation, white balance, autofocus mode, AE lock, Picture Style preset and depth-of-field preview, plus a Q Menu for additional settings such as JPEG/RAW quality and metering mode. To balance highlight and shadows in-camera, users may wish to employ the 750D’s Auto Lighting Optimizer, which has three settings – low, standard and high.

The Samsung NX500 is the World's most affordable compact system camera to feature 4K video recording. The Hybrid CMOS AF III system is also prone to cause 'banding' - seven pairs of horizontal lines across the image which are particularly noticeable when the image is processed aggressively, this is particularly noticeable in astrophotography. To further improve exposure accuracy, the metering is linked to the selected AF points in evaluative mode, with partial (6% of viewfinder), spot (3. It inherits many of the core features you’ll find on the 760D and on paper looks like an extremely capable DSLR for its proposed audience.Clearly Canon’s trickery does make a difference, as the Handheld Night Scene image displays noticeably less noise at the same recorded sensitivity, and though it’s marginally softer than the Program Auto shot, the overall appearance is better. Beneath the viewfinder, little has changed, with Canon opting to keep the same 3-inch touch sensitive Clear View II TFT screen that impressed us on the 700D.

Unlike some of Panasonic’s other models, it follows the same kind of form-factor as a DSLR, giving you a chunky grip and excellent handling. The 750D improves upon the 700D’s 63-zone SPC metering system with a 7560-pixel metering sensor that’s sensitive to red, green, blue and infrared light. It beefed up the resolution from the 18 megapixels of its predecessor, giving you plenty of scope to capture high-resolution shots, employing a crop in editing if need be. This figure shot up switching it to record in JPEG where the camera continuously fired at 5fps for as long as I had my finger depressed on the shutter button.

Speaking of the viewfinder, as is so often the way with cheaper models, it only offers 95% coverage of the scene, rather than 100%. Both 750D and 760D camera uses advance Hybrid CMOS AF III sensor and a 19-point AF phase module sensor, The Hybrid Sensor AF system gets activated when a user switches to live view shooting or records a video. The 750D’s autofocus is still solid, though, and some other handy features could make it a better option for you than some of Canon’s newer, cheaper DSLRs. One way that Canon could have made the 750D’s build quality even better would have been to employ weather sealing from its advanced enthusiast and pro models. Unlike the Nikon D5500 and some other recent high-resolution APS-C sensors however, the 750D and 760D continue to use an anti-aliasing filter and with this in place it has its work cut out to resolve the same levels of resolution.

Although this is a match for the Nikon D5500, the Pentax K-S2’s viewfinder boasts 100% frame coverage, making it easier to accurately compose your photos. In the instance where highlights were clipped in the sky of a high contrast scene, the detail was recoverable from a Raw file using the highlights slider in ACR. Dynamic range is also less impressive than some of its rivals, but looking at images in isolation, you should still be pretty pleased with them. Alternatively, there’s also HDR backlight control available from the scene modes, which works on the principle of combining three exposures to create a more balanced image, but this does require the camera to be locked off on a tripod to resolve optimum sharpness. Outdoors, the screen rendered scenes and colours accurately, but I did find myself increasing the screen brightness from its default setting of 4 to 6.

This offers a resolution of 1040k-dots and displays in the 3:2 aspect to match the aspect ratio of the imaging sensor. It uses a different app to previous Canon SLRs and compacts, but once again we had difficulty getting it to work with our Nexus 4 phone. An LCD information display on top of the body, a feature never before available in the EOS xxxD/Rebel digital line.

With the 750D in Auto mode, the flash is free to pop and fire if the camera detects a low light environment, which can quickly get you thrown out of a museum or gallery. This allows the camera to shoot continuously at up to 5fps which, although it isn’t any faster than the speed at which the 700D shoots, it’s useful for upping the hit rate when shooting action or sport sequences. These days, NFC has on the whole disappeared, while always-on low-power Bluetooth connectivity is very popular. Canon’s implementation of the technology is subtle, so much so that if you’re coming from a traditional DSLR, you need never use the touch controls and the 750D will function just as you’d expect using the normal D-pad directional controls and SET button on the rear panel. Positioning the AF point around the frame using the touchscreen revealed a fast, silent and smooth focus acquisition paired with our 18-55mm f/3.
