I understand there's a certain joking British male comedy voice that many people apparently find hilarious, but to me it felt more like a book that refused to take itself seriously and was constantly negging me and my kid. I’m as progressive as they come, but believe in an eye for an eye when it comes to violence against Bigs. The characters in this book are brilliant and so well thought through, as a whole it's nice to see that Charlie has a diverse range of friends and they all have brilliant but different personalities. And look at you,’ said Charlie, ‘you don’t look any different, well I suppose you don’t because worms don’t change the way they look, do they, they just get bigger, and in your case, more bouncy.Unfortunately of all the animals that are farmed, meat chickens like Charlie could be forgiven for thinking life is pretty meaningless. So the two old friends spent the rest of the morning looking for seeds, corn and occasionally whatever worms eat. Her illustration of Charlie as a spider was so perfect I tried to highlight it on my kindle in the same way that I collect my favourite sentences.
