At its core, the K95 RGB Platinum shares relatively the same shape, design and aluminum build as its predecessor, but there are key differences. Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) now offers plenty of templates to have colors pulse, wave and rain across the keys. If you’ve used one of Corsair’s high-end mechanical keyboards in the last few years, you pretty much know what to expect in terms of physical design here.

I’ve tested dozens of mechanical keyboards over the years, and tend to keep going back to Corsair’s models when I’m not reviewing something else. The customizable LightEdge bar adds an extra touch of visual flair that really takes lighting to the next level, though it’s not as unique a feature as it once was. The K95 RGB Platinum follows in the footsteps of Corsair's K70 RGB Rapidfire keyboard in its focus on speed. Corsair has also added an “X” arrangement of two-cable channels molded into the underside of the keyboard. PBT keys are more resistant to shine, so they won’t develop that oily sheen gaming keyboards are known for.The macro row also let me do cool things like move my gadgets and secondary skills off the number row. I wasn’t able to tell the difference during my testing, but I expect a much greater lifespan as a result. Fortunately, creating macros is a lot easier, and CUE gives you a ton of tools to make custom keystrokes. Interestingly, they’re not made for routing the peripheral’s own cable, but keeping your headset wire (or anything plugged into the dedicated USB passthrough) out of the way.

I don’t stream often but I do produce YouTube videos, and I loved being able to start and stop recording with my capture card with these easy to find buttons.so you’re stuck with last-gen transfer speeds, but it works great for connecting a gaming headset or mouse. Being double-shot also means that the legends are made of a second piece of plastic and will never fade or chip over time. Unfortunately, this wrist rest also easily attracts dust, crumbs, oils and all manner of detritus – so, it requires almost constant cleaning. Corsair bought Elgato back in mid-2018 and its hardware and software popular among game streamers and YouTubers.

Available in a variety of sizes – 60% keyboard, TKL keyboard, full-size, or extended with macro keys – these keyboards will fit any desktop setup. Corsair also includes S-key caps to replace the pre-installed G-key caps, should you feel the need to more directly state that your extra buttons are there to do Stream Deck duty.The Corsair K95 RBG Platinum comes with possibly one of the best wrist rests ever bundled with a keyboard. You can choose single-layer lighting, where keys light up as you type, or multi-layer, and have the keys change color. They might take some adjustment when it comes to normal typing, but this keyboard is at its best when playing games anyway. Some might not like this lesser amount of macro keys, but be honest – you’ll actually be able to reach them this time around. Pairing that with its added integration with both the Elgato Stream Deck and the iCUE NEXUS makes this a piece of tech that screams ‘must have’ for all content creators and gamers.

If you have a wireless keyboard, the steps for resetting it will vary slightly from a wired keyboard. Tom's Hardware is part of Future US Inc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. Hopefully in the future Corsair will combine the features of both into one software suite for simplicity’s sake. Featuring Cherry's new, linear MX Speed switches, the keys are highly responsive and take just a light press to actuate.

These keycaps are an excellent value-add that makes the XT upgrade more worth it, and I love that PBT is slowly making its way into more flagship keyboards. If you’ve ever pulled out the wrong weapon because you hit 4 instead of 3, then you already know what I’m talking about. The intuitive and powerful Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software makes it easy to set up sophisticated animated macros and lighting effects for a visually amazing experience.
