To quickly fix a plaster wall with spider or narrow cracks, you'll need some drywall tape, joint compound to fill the gaps, and sandpaper to get it looking even again. Any number of geological events could trigger earth movement, but it is the continuation of the movement which should cause concern. In some cases wall coverings, paint or render may obscure the extent of the cracking and damage making any cracks appear to be less serious than they actually are. For getting a nice and smooth finish, you need to get a product that does not leave behind any bubble or wrinkle for extended durability.

These are usually either Helical-type bars that feature a course looking thread or an epoxy-glass type rod. The results of not taping joints are unsightly at best, but it also increases your risk for future problems with pests or mold. In most cases you will need to widen the crack slightly to enable you to insert some mortar compound.

The trick is to try and keep the new drywall tape in place as you apply it so that there are no air bubbles around it when you finish taping up both sides of the seam. If these problems are not remedied then it may be the case that the property drops even more and cause very severe damage! Use a utility knife or painter's 5-in-1 tool to cut along the edges of the crack, opening up the crack slightly and removing loose material.

Structural changes like a shifting foundation—even a tiny amount of movement—can affect a plaster wall, causing it to crack. com/p/Strait-Flex-2-in-x-50-ft-Crack-Tape-Drywall-Joint-Tape-CT-50S-CT-50S/202343438" on this server.
