About this deal

The Crossland X can cope with being hustled through a series of bends, but it’s not a car that surprises you with an unexpected sporting edge or even a modicum of driver reward.

The Crossland X is available in five trim levels – Griffin, Business Edition Nav, Elite, SRI Nav and Elite Nav. So while the Crossland broadly looks and feels like a Vauxhall, those familiar with Peugeots will spot a few common components. Our Intelligent Telemaintenance service monitors the key functions of your vehicle – and notifies you as soon as something needs attention. Four adults can happily travel together in this car, while the ISOFIX anchors and middle seat mean three children will enjoy enough space in the back.

The overall impression of the cabin is agreeable and inoffensive, with a good ergonomic layout and instruments that are visible and readable – and you can’t say all of that about a Peugeot 2008. Whilst, the speed sign recognition alerts you to important speed signs, encouraging safer and smarter driving with every journey. Casting an eye around the cabin’s fixtures and fittings reveals switchgear you’ll recognise from both PSA’s parts shelves (window switches, pedals, interior door handles) and Opel-Vauxhall’s (headlight controls, column stalks, heater controls).

On boot space, the Vauxhall does a very competitive but not outstanding job, according to our tape measure, putting itself ahead of the Mazda CX-3 but being beaten narrowly by the Suzuki Vitara. There’s not much wrong with it, either, providing decent urge and a good spread of power for a largely hassle-free life, and it’s reasonably smooth and quiet, too. In the good news section, the heater controls are all physical knobs and buttons that are easier to use than touch-sensitive controls and the analogue instruments are easy to see. On the plus side, the foot space under its front seats is fine and the central tunnel that runs along its floor isn't as pronounced as it is in other competitors. The VW T-Roc is wider, so if you prefer to have more distance between you and your passenger, that’s worth considering instead. Ultimate trim comes with the Versatility Pack, which includes sliding rear seats, plus a third headrest and an armrest.

The updated Crossland, now without the ‘X’, is still built on the same platform as the last-gen Peugeot 2008.So, while Ultimate trim adds an ergonomic driver’s seat, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, as well as the Versatility Pack, we think you're better off with one of the rival small SUVs. The Crossland X’s platform has come from PSA, and although that means there are elements to the car’s proportions that aren’t traditionally Vauxhall-like, the car has enough of Vauxhall’s core design elements to prevent you from mistaking it as a car from somebody else. Vauxhallis part of Stellantis – which also includes Peugeot – and both models are based on the Peugeot 2008. However, the 110hp version of this engine is more popular – making up around 50% of sales in SE specification – but we didn’t enjoy driving that one as much. inches for extra cost), and you get the IntelliLink infotainment system, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
