I hadn’t touched a piano in 25 years due to having no room in the house and wanted to take it up again. But have only given 4* as the keys struggle to move fast enough to make sound on each press of the note when doing quick succession single trills that could be considered more advanced but should be capable for lower levels too, and every now and then the quality of the voice falters mid play but not enough to think it's a fault just think it's because of the level this keyboard is at.
Of course, one other element that does require some extra attention during the setup process is the care required. Because the DDP-80 keyboard is made out of wood (at least the outermost layer), its new owner will have to really make sure to handle and rest the keyboard gently, so as not to immediately scratch up its design. And the nice thing about having this port included is that you still get the benefit of hearing the built in speakers when you are using this port to connect to external amplification, so you still have the benefit of the 40 watts of built in speaker power. If you are a piano purist that is only concerned with playing piano without all the bells and whistles, and you are looking for a an attractive furniture style piano with a good piano sound, decent action and great speakers, then I think the Donner DDP-80 is a great option. There are a lot of great demos and reviews on YouTube if you’re not totally convinced if this is for you.Well, with the DDP-80, Donner has created a digital piano that has a very simple feature set that actually has more in common with acoustic pianos, but then includes a couple of the very basic but . Donner gave us the opportunity to try its new DDP-80 piano for ourselves, and as you’ll continue to read below, it certainly exceeded all of our expectations. This is REALLY where the DDP-80 gets super unique AND super interesting; once again, just like an acoustic piano – the DDP-80 has ONE sound – PIANO.
Even if you’re not going to use the digital piano in any music production scenario, it’s still great to hook it up with an external device like a laptop to have the instrument play your favorite piano tracks based on midi files that you can quickly get on the Internet. One final thing to note, is that when powering on or off, the piano does require a few extra seconds before a key press can audibly come through or go away. And the music rest not only looks good but is very functional, and nicely holds music books or a tablet; and I think the music rest might actually be real wood. Whilst this is a piano clearly built for the beginner who has an interest in decor, I do think there will be interest here for amateur music producers.
As you can see from the image above, the DDP-80 is a stylish keyboard piano and, in my opinion, the best keyboard piano in its design class. It also has 128 different voices to choose from, so you can find the perfect sound for any piece of music. This is a BEAUTIFUL keyboard, and the closest thing to a piano I can get in here without troubling my neighbours - but also, it really does just feel like a piano!
