About this deal

It's equal parts rom-com and fantasy while effortlessly weaving in Greek mythology elements and characters.

Where we are used to seeing Persephone fill in the gaps of the Underworld for Hades, THIS Persephone created new lands, reorganised her court and stepped into her public facing political role with effortless flair. Otherwise, if that's your cup of tea and you're not too fussed about rather toxic female tropes, and enjoy fluff, it will be the book for you.Personally, I was taking a break from high-stakes epic fantasy and this was a refreshing, witty romance to read with none of the crudeness you'd get from adult novels. and she has a controlling mother, Demeter, who has told her how to act and how to be all of her entire life.

According to everyone I know, it’s natural to be nervous before you are married, but no one has told me whether it’s natural to be terrified, filled with such abject horror at the thought that you can’t breathe properly.I also really liked Fitzgerald’s depiction of Hades, who is portrayed as a kind, gentle and introverted person with a love of art and heaps patience and compassion for Persephone. I adored that it's soley from Kore/Persephone's POV, her inner monologues really allow you to feel her journey from suffocated Girl whose future is planned out by overbearing parents and not at all what she wants. I adored Hades and Persphone's relationship all throughout the story, was a bit different to the others I've recently read too so it was a nice change!

And the achingly romantic, slow burn tension that develops between Hades and Persephone (taking them from enemies- to friends and beyond) was beautifully written and really gave us a chance to explore the nuances of the trust, respect and love that gradually grows between them.I've only read chapter 1 but I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favourite books this year. My eyes fall to the floor, and even that is enough to hurt me, staring at orange tiles I might never see again, the home I’m leaving – one way or another. She graduated with a first-class degree from the University of Reading, wherein she snuck as many ancient history modules (like a Trojan horse) into an English Literature BA as she possibly could. I don’t think this was the case with this one, and I think Fitzgerald did a really great job of making the world, the characters, the politics etc really easy to digest and follow along with. THE WRITING, THE HUMOUR, THE GREEK GODS AND THE PURE VIBES, KORE <3 Stay tuned for when I meet Hades.
