About this deal

For example, for a lesson on Tithing and Fast Offerings, I wrote down the following 4 words and phrases on separate index cards. Above all else, they can provide hours of entertainment and are a great way to spend more time together as a family. If you don’t mind using the same cards multiple times, you can even laminate them with clear contact paper or a small laminator (they’re less expensive than you’d expect).

Depending on your child’s age and development, you may want to choose a game that doesn’t have too many rules, or where the rules are easy to follow. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to make your own forehead game at home so you don’t have to wait for someone else to create bonus sets. Flipping down the character pictures on the board that don’t match the description narrows down the answer. Each person then takes a turn asking the audience YES or NO questions to try and figure out what is written on their card. At the end of the second player’s turn, each player counts the number of cards in the pile on their left. We looked at some of the most popular board games – both classic and new – for children to play, and outlined some factors to consider when choosing board games for kids, to help determine which ones will best entertain different children. Starting with the youngest player and proceeding clockwise around the table, take turns to ask one question about the card on your head as you try to figure out which emotion you have, you must not however use the actual emotion word. The other players can then keep taking turns to ask questions about their emotions card until all emotions have been identified.

You may need to help younger players place the card into the slot on their headband, especially if they are tempted to peek at the card. Together they gather clues, use a special evidence scanner to eliminate potential suspects, and catch Mr Fox before he escapes. The complete set comes with instructions for three different games you can play with the cards (headband game, memory, and 20 questions). If you’re making your own game that you intend to use often for family game nights, consider a set like this one so each family member can have their own designated color. When it is timed, it is more of a competition of who can be the first one to guess what is on their card. The “official” game has 60-second rounds but you can make your rounds however short or long you want, as long as they are the same for both players/teams. To make it a little more competitive, you can also have a timer and give each person 1-minute to ask their YES or NO questions. If you guess the picture before the timer runs out, take another card and put it on your headband (remember not to peek).

If you have a hedbanz game at home (like the one pictured on the left), use the blue headbands by slipping an index card into the front of each headband. Once they’ve managed to correctly identify what is on the card, that player can pick another card from the deck without looking to ask questions on that.To do this, players collect train cards and claim routes on the map, aiming to connect the cities on their tickets, but it offers both a simplified map and simplified rules compared to the original. Do NOT think that this is for primary age kids only – I have used this successfully with adults in Gospel Doctrine as well. When playing with children who are developing their language or critical thinking skills, allow more time per turn (or ignore the timer completely).
