About this deal

It is written in a more fiction than a non-fiction narrative, which I loved, but because it is written that way, I kept on forgetting that this is non-fiction. It’s wild to think that in 1992, when all of this was happening in Joe’s life, that it wasn’t an illegal act. Heidi Klum reveals behind-the-scenes look of THAT Peacock Halloween costume (which took SIX HOURS to complete! I'm spending every possible hour with her, while making sure that no one suspects us, and studying as much as I can.

In the riveting world of Truman Capote’s literary creations, a group of women emerges as a captivating and enigmatic clique. I name no names but older women in a position of power grooming a younger man and having children with him suddenly is something that happens right in the public eye as well. When she undresses in front of him, he strives for a compliment: “You’re completely naked and your skin is all olivey and milky. When he bumps into Miss P in a pub near the school, he dissolves into tears and tells her about the problems at home.He might not have achieved those goals, but by writing such a brave and honest book, he has given hope to anyone who has suffered any level of abuse. And, to my astonishment, she agrees, on the condition that I don't go spending what has taken my whole life to grow. Miss P often uses Gibson’s youthful naivety to belittle him, making him feel small and insignificant.

Sadly that bout is cut short, but there is plenty more to please the discerning reader as Joe is introduced to the delights of the older woman. For the next hour, Nick sits patiently and listens as I pick my way tentatively through the maze of the past eight months. It doesn’t have Nabokov’s poetic veil to cloud its harrowing subject matter, but the narrator’s increasing doubts, moments of weirdness, interspersed with the stereotypical depictions of a first love, create a similar effect on the reader - shock, nausea, and, most of all, pity for the victim - except greater, because his story is true. But other words come crashing down behind – filthy, disgusting, wrong, humiliating, failed, expelled.

Please note that the trigger warnings for this book are child sexual abuse, grooming, cohesion, manipulation, and cohersive behaviour.

in parts it sulky and finger pointing on a life that he seems to say if it were not for her he would have been at Oxford would have been a success, have had good times with his mates. Seventeen is a remarkable book, Joe Gibson brings to life a shocking true story that's as compelling as it is urgent. Since the school is 150 miles away, his parents arrange for him to stay with friends who allow him use of their spare room, but otherwise leave him to his own devices.I'm wearing it on a November day with my week-long Oxford scholarship trial and exams looming, and the tension is hard to shake off. I was attracted to the book since I had been through a similar but not identical experience when I was a teenager myself, My general comments on the Case Study described by Joe Gibson are as follows.
