Given Prospero Hall's prior experience with adapting beloved 1980s films to tabletop such as The Shining, The Rocketeer, Back to the Future, and The Goonies, Cross' confidence has firm ground to stand on. Rolling is how all actions are completed; the character sheets show the number of dice rolled by each character to attempt a task. Also, weirdly, there is a QR code hidden on some of the cards, this is just an advert for other Jurassic World merchandise, only available in “Selected US Retailers”, which is odd for a UK copy of the game and just made me laugh!

The theming and artwork throughout the game, from the box to the board to all the materials you’ll discover from session to session, are phenomenal. Once the board has been set up, Jurassic World begins with each player either choosing a character or being given one at random. I’ve never played a game that turns the rulebook into a pocket encyclopedia like this, but it was exceedingly helpful. From one of the biggest movie franchises of all-time come this Jurassic World board game, where you take on the role of a park manager! One might lead a few guests off toward the safety of the nearby visitor center while another runs past, dodging a carnivorous dinosaur on the way to take a genetic sample from a nearby herbivorous herd.

Taking place over 12 individual adventures (which last two or more hours each), you'll "transform Isla Nublar into an astonishing paradise, build your own vision of the theme park, and breed new dinosaurs".

It will weigh seven pounds, most likely due to the size and weight of the miniatures and terrain included, and it will feature artwork heavily inspired by the 1950s comics, TV, and films that inspired the beloved Steven Spielberg films. It’s the same sort of tension baked into the semi-random deck of cards in the game Pandemic, but with only five rounds and five cards to pull the tension feels much tighter and more focused. It’s quite the accomplishment that the mystery and surprises experienced still present as fresh despite the range of legacy games now available. It serves as a tutorial, gently introducing players to the core ruleset and the functions of the park’s inhabitants. My day-long preview session included three full games, the first of which was designed to be a tutorial.In this case, committing to the full 12 scenarios of Isla Nublar is worth the effort — as long as you’re only playing with a single partner or two.

Benjamin Abbott of GamesRadar+ also praised the level of detail, but criticized the large number of contents and rules, finding them to be overwhelming.They will need to roll “finance” with a result of 6 or more and because The Director can roll 3 dice for finance, they stand a good chance of succeeding.
