About this deal

Back in the sixties in the heyday of slot racing we would take our open frame motors to a Lucas dealer who would re-magnetize them. China Magnetizer Demagnetizer, Magnetizing Demagnetizing Tool, Magnetizer Demagnetizer For Steel Screwdriver Blades Tweezers Hand Tools Metal Tools, Magnetizer Demagnetizer Screwdriver Tips Screw Bits Magnetic Tool, Magnetizer Demagnetizer Supplier China Magnetizer Demagnetizer Specification: Part No. This means that, when remagnetising, it is essential to use shaped blocks to keep the length of the magnetic circuit as continuous as possible though, inevitably, there will be some sections filled with the (non-magnetic) aluminium casting. Now I'm sure I will get shouted down, "Lucas" who's that but I'm sure there is/are some company(s) that deals in electric motors and generators that can offer re magnetizing.

Now I know Ron Dodd of HRCA builds and sells an excellent magnetiser and has done some excellent YouTube clips. Once the keeper is removed, the magnetism is lost instantaneously - you will never be quick enough to put a spanner across the poles or insert a steel plug in the armature hole! Although other magnetiser designs exist, we use one of a type which allows the process to be done after the magneto has been completely assembled. These magdynos have an 'all-in-one' body so the remagnetising is done with the dynamo armature replaced with the cylindrical block shown on the left. Eclipse Magnetics’ neodymium magnets offer the strongest magnetic performance, and are nickel plated, making them a cost effective. The magnetiser is designed with safety in mind and therefore operates with 12 volts supplied by the fully enclosed desktop type power supply. Hi Derek I see you got yours they are excellent I have worked my way through my loco's what a difference it makes to the running of them Ron was suprised to hear that he no longer makes them as he still does make them someone spreads a rumour and how how it spreads !

This magnetic field is not concentrated in a direction, so the magnetic moments are randomly spun around such that, once again, the net magnetic field is insignificant. A more cost effective approach would be to look into the possibility of replacing the magnetic material with one of the Neodymium type. Some 40 odd years ago built a simple magnetiser from old solenoids (1inch plus iron core diameter) using a car battery as a source of current. Ihave listed this as “used condition” as it is a homemade article, but all the parts are new and it’s only use has beenin testing and proving the product.

The rare earth magnets on the other hand, mainly Neodymium or Samarium Cobalt, require much higher fields in the range of 3 to 5Tesla. I find with age some are getting better, I suspect it's due to constant use as compared to sitting in the box for most of their 60 years of life. Please complete the purchase (or remove the quote – don't worry it's still available in My Account) before adding these additional items. Consequently, most magnetising systems utilise capacitor discharge technology to generate a magnetic pulse of sufficient strength to magnetise the material, but of short enough duration to prevent the magnetising coils from overheating.
