Both headsets are just as easy to repair too as they use just nuts and bolts and feature easily replaceable parts, meaning either Meze headset should last for years and years. It’s nothing too fancy but good quality; you get two sets of cables (of the same design but different lengths), an airline adapter, and a quarter-inch jack. There’s no app, there’s no advanced virtualization or surround features, and there are no features dependent on data collection. Treble is also more prominent on the 99 Classics, being more forward in the mix and extending higher.

The earcups have a beautiful shape to them as well and one that looks very good on the head and in hand. If you're accustomed to very high-end headphones, the 99 Classics (and by extension, this special edition) may leave you wanting something with more character. I tested them with various sources throughout time; for the purpose of this review, I used an Aune M1s, a Topping DX7 with its own amplifier or in conjunction with a Head ‘n’ Hifi Objective2 amplifier and a Little Dot MKIII SE. I don’t have golden ears, to me they both sound very nice, nothing dark, nothing harsh and a noticeable difference with your regular 50 EUR headphone.

The rest of the midrange’s spectrum is quite flat and neutral, presenting a very universal representation of the sound. If you lean more towards the latter, I’d highly recommend the Meze 99 Classics, as it’s just an emotional sounding headphone, but keep in mind that in terms of pure SQ the Sundara is an overally better product, and by some margin.In our testing we found these to be exceptionally comfortable headphones to wear for an extended period of time. No sight of plastic, beautiful wooden cups, metal headband with an elastic band for improved comfort, detachable cables in both ear cups. So after some lengthy organizing and conducting my inventory, I realized I currently own 50 headphones. The accessories that will fit with your favorite Meze products, bringing you extra listening comfort and a pleasant surprise.
