About this deal

But what Analogue Productions is using are metal parts from when the 3 track was in far better condition and BG cut directly from it to lacquer. Using a blank record is an attempt to get around that assumption, but it does not properly account for the diamond geometry. Acoustic Sounds bought a bunch of metal parts from Classic Records when they went out of business, though not the contractual right to press the records, which they had to acquire separately. The geometry of the stylus also matters because it changes which direction the groove pushes on stylus. Davis played trumpet sublime with his ensemble sextet featuring pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley with Wynton Kelly playing piano on "Freddy the Freeloader.

In selecting the album as number 12 on its 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, maintaining the rating in a 2012 revised list, [50] Rolling Stone magazine stated: "This painterly masterpiece is one of the most important, influential and popular albums in jazz". If there was ever an album awaiting a high-fidelity, custom-pressed vinyl treatment of the level you now hold in your hands, it is Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. The same happened for Patricia Barber's Cafe Blue costing more than double in Europe, but KoB UHQR doesn't even to be available in Europe? Everything needed to be said in a short review has been said already; see Fred Kaplan’s comment above. The rhythm section of Kelly, Chambers, and Cobb backed Coltrane for Coltrane Jazz and one track on his landmark Giant Steps, which featured Chambers throughout.

Well, I think that everything has already been said and talked about the audio quality, however, I want to commend QUALITY's initiative, for leaving the record on the outside of the beautiful cover, thus maintaining the integrity of the cover during long periods of travel, congratulations to the thinkers ! I already have more than a few pressings of Kind of Blue, accumulated since I bought my first copy 57 years ago, so I'm just not sure I need another. I’m sure others will analyze the sound quality of this version of “Kind Of Blue” many times, so I’ll skip that. I saw on some Facebook forums that Acoustic Sounds confirmed (via Instagram, which I am not on) that this is coming. As they set out to make their UHQR series the world’s best-sounding vinyl records, they have also used Clarity Vinyl, which is free of any carbon black pigment which might introduce surface noise.

All the presence and life of the original is lost, even though yes, you can hear everything perfectly, no doubt, but if you have the first press, you know where the money is better invested. Some are on Blue in Green (piano during solo and outro, beginning of Coltrane's solo) and others are on Flamenco Sketches. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
