Despite that, these two did have explosive chemistry together and the story was interesting enough to keep me reading though I did see the twist coming as soon as it was hinted at. A little while later, Aiden finds Riley once again to pick up where they left off (and also dole out some punishment for the events following their date).

While it was a bit of an emotional slow burn, the chemistry between the two of them was super hot, right from the start. That is really my only complaint because we did get glimpses but I felt like something was missing in the end. You have scars, but they don’t have you Yes I know, not the usual quote that I'd highlight or put at the top but it seemed fitting for this book. The second one disappointed me, falling straight away from the original plot of what the monsters were.Later she really didn’t try that hard to clarify things and considering she was supposed to be in hiding she seemed very unconcerned regarding her own safety. But when Riley’s traumatic past ruined their night together and had her fleeing, she never could have guessed the outcome. Jonas was fantastic, despite his overuse of the word ‘bloody’ (it came up 84 times - yes, I checked) and I actually really like Lenny as well.

I found her entertaining and she was so strong after everything she had gone through, I just wanted to give her a big hug.

My issue with these books is that the couples are all hands off and not into each other until the very last minute of the books and then all of a sudden BAMTHEYREINLOVE. We briefly met Riley in Promises and Pomegranates and also heard about Aiden too so the characters weren't 'new' new but my god was this both a hard and refreshing read. But I ate it up and low-key sad that I finished it so fast because I just wanna go back and read it. Though I didn’t see the plot twist at first, but because I accidentally read a spoiler, saurrrrr it feels kinda meh + the epilogue was mediocre but other than that? The reason why I read this book anyway was because of the 1) fake relationship trope and 2) Sav R Miller's writing is literally so good that I'm constantly in awe of it.

When I read this was going to be a “dark stalker rockstar romance” I had a very different idea of what I was expecting when going into the book. if it all made more sense more often i would give it a higher rating but there’s always that and an element of frustration to everything. So it was a great read overall and I think I’m actually going to continue reading the series just because apart from the Dark Olympus series, this is the only other dark romance that touches on greek myths which is always a yes for me. I did like Jonas and Lenny, I wanted more scenes together- I feel like some of the family drama took that romantic buildup away. Her struggles with her scars on her body and face really broke me (maybe because that's relatable to a degree?They go on an adventure together, getting to know each other on a mostly surface level, until things start to heat up and Riley bolts. Maybe your response has more to do with the circumstances themselves and your personal reaction to them, rather than the rightness of the situation. When he goes limp, I punch my arm forward more forcefully, until the end of the iron pops out the back of his neck at an awkward angle. Aiden is a rockstar who’s had a tough childhood, and he’s never really had anyone there was in his life for him and not the rockstar Aiden. It just makes me feel bad for him and if I can get over the “love at first sight” trope 🙄 it just seems something you need to be plain ANGRY ANGRY over.
