About this deal

Here, the distinct, smoky essence of frankincense takes center stage, fused with the exotic, woody scent of Lebanon cedar. The initial scent is a bold combination of fresh, tangy grapefruit and aromatic basil, punctuated by the sharp, citrusy tones of Italian bergamot. I love how this smells different than everything else out on the market these days it's good to get away from all the sweet citrus smelling colognes out now. Jacques Bogart "One Man Show" already holds a strong position in the cheapie hall of fame so I will not belabor that point. One Man Show opens with bergamot, basil, stiff galbanum, and rosewood, which outside the last one is a pretty grassy, male-centric arrangement.

I have since made my own personal decant so that I can apply a single dot of this to my skin, and it works perfectly. This is gently balanced with the soothing, floral notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine, and rose, with a dash of Brazilian rosewood adding complexity. Middle notes settle in an hour or so later and it becomes pure Polo by Ralph Lauren, yet a lighter, less heavy blend, with a touch more basil and cedarwood. If you test only newer, your experience may vary wildly from what others are saying, although if you hate animalics, avoid vintage. The resinous, amber-like tones of Labdanum and the earthy, green scent of Cistus bring depth and longevity to the perfume. Unsurprisingly, this is a loud "typical 80's" aromatic chypre of the "powerhouse" sub-genre, but unlike it's name, isn't quite so brash to actually wear. It also reminds me a bit of Ferre for Man but without the sunny, Italian warmth which makes that scent so special. Homme (1989), but if you wear One Man Show anywhere except outside on a cold winter day, people WILL notice you, and just like the title of the juice, you will indeed become your own "One Man Show" as they run trying to escape your sillage. The bottom notes brings out musky tobacco tones and subtle cedarwood, and it lasts and carries very well.

The heart thrums three fabulous other woods and resinous frankincense, nutmeg and cascarilla…looking it up…used in voodoo ceremonies to cleanse and ward off evil.

I get a green tobacco leaf vibe--possibly the basil in the top notes--and from there it just goes on being a leathery, woody, spicy animalic scent, right at home among the Polos and Aramises of the day.

One Man Show by Jacques Bogart (1980) must be one of the most audacious names for a masculine fragrance I have ever seen, to the point of initially staying away from it when I first saw the stuff in mall perfume kiosks. There is surprisingly no oakmoss listed by Bogart, but unless I've lost all sense of smell, I swear some is there. It's versatile enough for both everyday and leisure use and can transition well into evening events. There is a slight skank to the opening too, so fans of Kouros (1981) and Lapidus Pour Homme (1987) will appreciate the lack of subtlety here, while users of the more dapper Dunhill Edition (1984) will find redemption in the interplay of cedar and sandalwood base notes.Perfumer Roger Pellegrino took the biker-meets-boardroom appeal of that debut masculine and cut away all safety restraints, bolstering the top notes and cutting out the leather. I cannot imagine what to do with the rest of the bottle apart from use it as a bathroom air freshener. Lots of depressing, wilting red carnations, an oily, musky sticky film on everything, patchouli oil and smoky frankincense with pine needles to create that lovely blue water piss aroma.

Recommended use is obviously cold months, but this really has no context that suits it best outside a vintage 80's nightclub or a brisk walk in February, on the waterfront. bergamot gives the opening a beautiful masculine old school fresh vibe while pine needle and basil giving it bitter green and bright woody aspect and finally lots of patchouli creating a strong peppery aura around all mentioned notes. I bought this completely blind after reading some reviews, intrigued by the affordability and obscurity of this fragrance plus comparisons to Quorum and I couldn't resist. Unlike the excellent leather of Bogart (Signature / Classic, 1975), One Man Show reveals a few cracks that prevent me from having an overall favourable impression. That seems like a great way to quickly describe One Man Show: better than I would have done, so I quoted it.I'd wear this more if I was a banker, I think, someone who is keen to find value and who has no time for nonsense. but then you soon relax because it develops into something rather classy with a lovely creamy warmth. One Man Show by Jacques Bogart is a classic men's fragrance that offers a robust, multi-layered scent profile. OMS does not even make the list of my top fragrances with terms to the scent but this does not change the fact how beautifully this fragrance has been composed. To use it properly without annoying anybody and also yourself the weather must be at least cool so except summer you can wear it easily in all remaining seasons.
