About this deal

Jackie Chan was the king of Hong Kong martial arts action flicks for a longtime running, and with good reason. Chan began work on the film after a disappointing experience working with director James Glickenhaus on The Protector, which was intended to be his entry into the American film market. recurring":{"placeholder_text":"Recurring","initial":{"instruction_type":"normal","instruction_message":"How often would you like to give this?

More often than not, the action of Police Story 3: Supercop revolves around stunt work or an explosive shootout in an illegal militias base; not that there’s anything wrong with either, I am merely tempering expectations. I haven’t seen all of the US cut here, but reportedly it keeps the action but loses most of the mainland China/Hong Kong cultural comparison bits as well as any local humour that might go over the heads of western viewers.Police Story 2013 ( Chinese: 警察故事2013), made in 2013, stars Jackie Chan in another reboot of the series. If you are a Michelle Yeoh fan, it’s a definite winner because it’s a classic role for her, but also to see the film where her iconic statements about Jackie Chan originated while she was on the ‘Everything, Everywhere all at Once’ press cycle. It’s rather long at 50 minutes though, particularly considering the lack of sound (other than a music bed).

Of those long missing titles, the most desired was Police Story 3: Supercop, purely on the premise of it featuring Michelle Yeoh opposite Hong Kong’s most famous son. And the city of Kuala-Lumpur with its American-style buildings is another great scenario for this good movie.

The tracks for both of the first two come across very well indeed (for those who don't already know) with unsurprisingly dated effects and score, but charmingly so given the classic material we're watching, and with keen prioritisation of the dialogue and some of the more fundamental effects (the gunshots are still quintessentially 80's). A string of Jackie Chan-starring action vehicles released in the US in the late 1990s, which included Rumble in the Bronx, Operation Condor, and First Strike, established him as a worldwide superstar for new generations of movie fans (long before the Rush Hour franchise). Much like the first two Police Story films (which I reviewed here a while back), Supercop provides a hugely enjoyable showcase for Jackie Chan’s expert stunt work, physical comedy and martial arts action. Yang kicked a female drug trafficker in the crotch during the gunfight in the drug supplier's compound in Thailand before the latter is shotdown by the supplier's soldiers.

In a huge gun battle, Chaibat's gang kill the rival traffickers and their guards, and smash up the compound.arrangement_cancelled":"Plan Cancelled","arrangement_failed_to_cancel":"Failed to cancel plan","back_to_plans":"\u2190 Back to Plans","update_payment_method_verb":"Update","sca_auth_description":"Your have a pending renewal payment which requires authorization. There’s an explosive gunfight that John Woo would be proud of and then, shortly after, you get into the epic finale, which features several death-defying stunts involving a helicopter, motorbike and train. Connoisseurs will find Chan's helicopter-train chase far riskier, more exciting and more believable than its mates in Mission: Impossible and The Living Daylights". There’s a bit of a James Bond vibe in the film’s globe-trotting settings and some of its set-pieces, particularly the speed boat chase. Not because of the reviews, as I rarely ever let my opinion be influenced by reviews I may have read prior to watching a film. This mission sees him shipped off to Guangzhou, China, where he joins forces with Michelle Yeoh – a high-ranking officer of the Chinese military Police. Michelle Yeoh makes for a great addition as her chemistry with Jackie is noticeable right from the start, even if I watched the dubbed version. His assignment takes him to mainland China, where he teams up with Captain Yang Chien-Hua ( Michelle Yeoh), and the pair infiltrate the inner circle of the notorious Chaibat, bickering and kicking ass along the way. He reprises his role as Inspector Chan, but in drag to catch a criminal in drag wearing the same wig and clothes. initial":{"instruction_type":"normal","instruction_message":"Attach a note to your tip (optional)"},"empty":{"instruction_type":"normal","instruction_message":"Attach a note to your tip (optional)"},"not_empty_initial":{"instruction_type":"normal","instruction_message":"Attach a note to your tip (optional)"},"saving":{"instruction_type":"normal","instruction_message":"Saving note.
