About this deal

Refer to the first illustration of the story which shows local German soldiers being greeted by civilians as they head for the war against the Soviet Union (Russia).

The co-author/illustrator used the significant name Rose Blanche for the young girl; it was also the name of a group of young German citizens who protested the war and were all killed.

Rose Blanche covers a fairly large area that includes the communities of Harbour Le Cou and Diamond Cove. H. Smith Literary Award, the 2003 National Book Critics' Circle Fiction Award, the 2003 Los Angeles Times Prize for Fiction, and the 2004 Santiago Prize for the European Novel for Atonement; and the 2006 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Saturday.
