About this deal

But the new guy has the backing of the head (R2 boss Helen Thomas), and by Wednesday he seemed a little more at ease, though it will take several months before he reaches the extreme cosy-cardy comfiness of his predecessor, Ken Bruce. I finished it with a newfound respect for him, and I thoroughly enjoyed the insight into his life and the entertainment industry. The TV presenter ran into trouble when he refused to show lawyers old messages from his ex-husband that he'd quoted in Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future. I can’t say from this I am keen to read part 2 of Rylan’s life , but it was an enjoyable enough light read (listen).

I picked this one not because I am a big fan of Rylan but because I have a vague notion of him being down to earth and honest, so I thought his memoir would be worth a shot. The TV presenter split from his husband last year after six years of marriage, and has been open about the toll it took on him, recently admitting that he suffered two heart failures and was hospitalised following the breakdown of his marriage. He continued: “During this time, Mum secretly arranged for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to come and see me. Listening to this programme, which arrives on the heels of Finding Britain’s Ghost Children, Terri White’s 5 Live series on children lost from the education system, you wonder just what the education secretary, Gillian Keegan, actually does, other than offer a cheery social-media thumbs up to those children mentally well enough to sit exams. Obviously I know who Rylan/Ross is but I have never watched any of those reality programmes like Big Brother that he is involved with. In this surprising new memoir, Rylan invites us deeper into his world to reflect on all the things he's learnt from a decade in the limelight, whilst also pulling back the curtain on his personal journey.

You don’t often read a autobiography where the person has been so raw, honest and blunt as Rylan has been. When Rylan was first on The X Factor I thought he was attention seeking and annoying, but seeing the real side of him in recent years I have grown to like him, so was interested to read his side.Definitely worth a listen to the audiobook (his mum cracks me up when they have their wee conversations) even if you don't consider yourself a fan.

Speaking of whom, I loved the accounts by them - perhaps my favourites were from his wonderful Mum, Linda and his sister-in-law, Jayne. Tickle looks at the provision in England and Wales for children in a mental health crisis: volatile, suicidal kids with severe emotional and behavioural needs. Based on information in the Children Locked Away podcast, an earlier version said that Becky’s room had “no daylight”; in fact there is a window in the room. And you know, when it’s those closest to you giving you this feedback, of course you take it to heart.Speaking about the split at the time, Rylan said: “I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage. In his new book, TEN: The Decade that Changed My Future, the star has spoken about his divorce in more detail.
