About this deal

Galvanized steelis among the most popular steel types because of its extended durability, having the strength and formability of steel plus corrosion protection of the zinc-iron coating. To install fence post spikes, a sledgehammer is an ideal tool, as it enables you to drive the finned steel spike into the ground with precision and force. The best of part of using fence spike is, you can avoid using concrete or post mix to hold your pole.

They are made of steel and are extremely hard-wearing and resistant to corrosion due to the fact they are dual coated – firstly zinc plated then powder coated. We would suggest you drill a hole a couple of centimetres from the top of the block, all the way through, and thread through some sturdy rope to make a loop, or a piece of reinforcing bar (rebar) to act as a handle, like the one in the image below. If you aren’t careful, even a single swing of your sledgehammer or mallet could push the spike out of alignment. Besides, it requires using other professional tools as well which involves more hard work in compared to using post mix. A fence that uses fence post anchor spikes is just as stable as a fence with posts set in concrete, with the added benefit of minimizing the rotting of the fence posts. We also have a detailed guide covering the different types of nuts and bolts and how they should be used here. You don’t have to wait for concrete to harden and don’t need to think about replacing the ground around the screws. You can also use a chemical fixing to hold the post holder down (see how here) with threaded bar studs that are set into the mounting surface.

Normally, when you set fence posts, you have to dig a deep hole, fill it with rocks or a concrete mixture, and then place the post in and let it set.Multiple Applications: this pylex fence post anchor ground spike can accommodate many types of posts such as mailboxes, fence, and signage etc. You can also use this size to install upright timber structures into your garden to create different zones, and to add height and interest by breaking up planting areas (see example below). Chain link fencing for example, puts a lot of stress on the posts as it is tightened and the post holders would not be secured strongly enough in the ground for this (more on this can be found in our project on Chain Link Fencing). With our carefully selected anchors, you can achieve a professional-looking fence that stands strong against wind, weather, and everyday wear.

Ground screw production and usage reduces carbon emissions by an average of 60% compared with concrete foundations. Using post-mix has only three advantages- one, it is less expensive, two lasts longer and three it more permanent. Post spike is a long metal spike you hammer into the ground and later insert the post and screw them together. Even though your posts may not last quite that long, you won’t need to dig a hole again, reset concrete, or anything like that.Hammer the fence ground spike in the ground by kneeling down, since hammering standing upright might create a bad impact on your back.
